The Coverups- Ivy Room, Albany Ca. 3/6/18 Multicam Canon HFG40 Rode VPS Green Day

So with the help of Todd Pritchard (who tipped me off that the show was happening), I was able to score a ticket to one of the Coverups’ shows. It was a lot of fun- almost 2 hours of great cover songs. Plus, Tre Cool gets up on stage for a Foxboro Hot Tubs song, and Jason Beebout gets up there for one.
This was filmed with my Canon HFG40 and Rode Video Pro Stereo mic (that’s the one I am moving around), 1 gopro hero5 silver and 1 gorpo hero5 black. I had just bought the black from the gopro official refurb store on ebay… and it was faulty. There are many glitches from that one angle due to that gopro. My good friend Agelos still made the edit work, but it took a lot more effort to make it happen. Thanks Agelos. The gopros’ batteries conk out about halfway through, and someone with a camera on a tripod got front and center.. so the ending is not so good.
Oh, one last thing. I usually get permission to film bands, but they showed up and went right on stage. If the band wants this pulled down, please message me. Thanks!

Green Day- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 5/17/15 LIVE Multicam Canon HFG Pro Cameras

Some folks might like this one. Thanks to everyone for making it happen- Corbett for helping me get into the show, Dan for shooting the stage camera, Jason for the audio mix (man it sounded good in there), and Agelos for editing it all together. I FINALLY GOT THE OK to post this!! Filmed by me (Shayne) with 1 Canon HFG30 on a monopod, 1 Canon HFG10 mounted to the ladder, and dan holding an HFG10. Audio via Sony PCM-M10 & DPA4061 mics. Note to aggregators: Please don’t ask for my footage. Feel free to link to my site, but I hold you in the same regard as the guys who sold VHS tapes at record shows in the 80s/90s… making profit off of others’ work. So, please, if you are aggregator, don’t even try. My channel is non-monetized so all funds go to the artists.

Green Day- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 5/17/15 Multicamera with DPA4061 Audio NEW ENHANCED

I posted this one a few years ago, before I knew how to use all of this video enhancement software so the raw angles were edited together. This time around, we put a lot of work up front into enhancing each angle to get the colors to match (as much as this color blind guy can manage). Jim McLain also helped with the G10 ladder angle- the lighting was very uneven before, and he was able to even it out with some effect in adobe premiere.

Green Day- Tokyo, Japan 2000? xfer from DAT Master/Clone Audio Soundboard Live

Man, I hope I don’t piss anyone off by sharing this one. When we were doing work for the documentary, I transferred this DAT. It just said “FARGO” on the J-Card. After listening to it, the show is obviously from Tokyo. It is ROUGH- not only is the mix super raw (sounds like a monitor mix), but Billie Joe has laryngitis. A classic “the show must go on” moment, and they still kick ass.

Green Day- Westwood One Interview, Torrance Ca 11/4/94 xfer from low gen audio cassette

This one has been a long time coming. Arica Pelino asked me about this tape so many times and I could not find it in her magic suitcase, until I moved it to make room for a NEW collection (to be announced tomorrow!). Finally! Sorry for the delay, Arica.
This tape is an odd one. It takes place shortly after the band’s legendary Woodstock 94 show and Lollapalooza tour as an opener. They are playing CSDH that night (I was there!) and that’s around where this happens. Arica says she thinks she taped this off the radio, but it sure sounds like a Pre-FM thing to me. The interviewer’s mic is off/distant. Wacky, jet-lagged chaotic interview.

Green Day- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 9/3/93 Lossless xfer from master VHS-C tape Full Show 1080p

Time for another special release from Arica Pelino’s collection. This comes right off her VHS-C master tape. I did denoise/degrain this one a bit, but didn’t want to go overboard with the enhancements so it is still a little grainy. This was their last show at 924 Gilman before signing with Warner/Reprise.

Green Day- Phoenix Theater, Petaluma Ca 6/17/93 xfer from VHS-C Master tape Arica Pelino Collection

Yes! Green Day is finally off tour, so we can get back to more GD posts from Arica. This one has been sitting in the queue, waiting for 2 months to post. It’s pretty nice quality and very rare- it looks like a couple of clips were shown on VH1’s behind the music and that was it. Audio is good and nice camerawork as well.
This is the legendary “last show” before they signed their major label contract. Some context from greendaylive website:

Ben Saari: “Word got out. The last show before they signed the contract was in Petaluma at the Phoenix Theater. There were tons of people. Everybody knew the next day they were signing the deal with the devil and everything would suck. They would be sellouts, nobody could be friends with them, they would be on tour forever, they would blow up. Things would get really good for them. And people were aware that this was also gonna bring in a whole new level of attention to what we had been doing.”

The Daily Cougar: “One person [Brian Zero] even went so far as to hold a protest against the band’s signing at a June 17 concert at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, Calif., calling for the club’s patrons to walk out when the band played. ‘Yeah, some guy came out and expressed his views about major labels, some of which were pretty valid,’ says Billie Joe. ‘I have to give him some credit. He wasn’t a belligerent drunk – he expressed himself intelligently. I mean, if I saw the guy, I’d still want to spit in his face. No one walked out.'”

Huge thanks to Arica for sharing these.
