The Bands that Stole X-Mas Out of Print CD: Christmas songs from local bands 1998

So the kids were demanding Christmas music in the car yesterday, so I put this on and made it about halfway through the second song before a bleeped out F word happened and I had to change it… but it made me wonder if this was on youtube yet. FAR- Bojangles, Sacramento, Ca. 3/10/98 xfer f/master VHS tape

Well crap. Not only am I late on the On This Date post, I realize that I have quite a bit of post-digitizing work to do to it. Let’s share this first- Zoran has started to digitize some of his old VHS tapes. Finally! Hallelujah.

He shared this early gem of a recording of Far at Bojangles, formerly Cattle Club. He shot 1 song handheld with one of those first gen beast VHS camcorders. Sounds great! Hey, I know a guy who can clean up that diginoise in the dark areas..

Far- Claremont College, Claremont Ca Mid 90s xfer from Hi8 Master Tape Jonah Matranga

A couple months back, I had posted some great video footage that Steve Rogers (Surrogate Brains) shot of Slayer and some other bands. I was planning on posting more and I realized that my new video capture setup wasn’t working correctly… so I had to rework a ton of tapes. In honor of Steve’s birthday today, I am posting this one. Happy Birthday! Many more Steve videos coming up.
Hey Kevin- check out the drummer’s shirt. How many of those were made??

Far- In the Aisle, Yelling Self Released/Demo Tape 1994 xfer from Master Cassette Jonah Matranga

Here’s one from Kaiden Skinner’s collection today. This one is already on youtube, but the one that is up there was mastered extremely low and doesn’t have much low end, so let’s toss up a better version.
Thanks to Kaiden for sending his rare demos over to be digitized.

Another late one for you today, and we still have an audio post coming!
I had intended to post this one about a week ago and realized that I prepped it at a super low resolution. This was one of the first things I did after walking in the door from Las Vegas yesterday. Man, these umatic transfers look so nice and there are a lot more to go.

Far- Sweat a River, Live No Lies Demo 1991 xfer from master demo tape Jonah Matranga

It has been a while since the archive has had this late of a post. I told you I was running late all day!

This one comes from Kaiden Skinner’s collection, and it is the last one I have from him. I think this one might be out there on YT, but not with a Nak Dragon transfer, so let’s put a potentially better version up.
