Exciter- Stone, San Francisco Ca 9/29/84 xfer from master audio cassette Canada Heavy Metal

Another one from Tour Manager Doug’s awesome box- I have only heard 1 early Exciter tape that rivals this one, quality wise so this is a real treat! I wish I could have seen this tour- I saw the next one at the Crest in 1985, but this tour would have been THE ultimate tour for me.
Someone yells into the mic as the music/intro starts, so there are some odd volume fluctuations for the first minute or so that I might have made worse by trying to fix. It’s fine from 1min in-forward.

Audio Live Concert

Asmodi Bizarr- Hamburg, Germany 9/22/84 xfer from unknown gen cassette Goth Death Rock Soundboard FM

Here’s an obscure one for you today, from James R Edmonds’ collection. Great stuff- man, I love that chorusy distorted guitar sound (ala Killing Joke, early Cult, etc). I wonder why they didn’t get more popular back when they were around. Sounds like a low gen copy of the cassette.

Audio Live Concert

Slayer- Live Undead Rough Mix, Tiki Recording Studio, New York 1984 xfer from master audio cassette

Since all I have seen on my timeline for the past day is SLAYER REUNION, I figured I would join in the fun and post this one from TM Doug’s archives.
I think all Slayer fans know by now that this was not recorded during a live concert. They played live in a New York studio with about a dozen people in attendance, who won entry through a radio station contest.
This tape is definitely a rough mix of that session. It sounds like Doug popped a tape into the board without any mixing being done at all– sounds like a live soundboard tape. Cool to hear it like this!

Audio Live Performance

Omen- Country Club, Reseda Ca 9/1/84 xfer from Master Audio Tape Metal Blade Los Angeles Power Metal

Here’s an audio post from Tour Manager Doug- you can listen while you travel to your family dinner. The full show is on youtube in video form, but that one has an inferior audio track in my opinion.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Audio Live Concert

Slayer- Country Club, Reseda Ca 9/1/84 xfer from master audio cassette

Here’s the second(and last) one from Tour Manager Doug for the week.
This recording has not been posted/circulated to my knowledge. There is a document of the show on Youtube, but it is a grainy video suffering from generation loss. That’s where I got this image to use- I could not find a flyer.
I not only pushed the EQ as much as I could in Sound Forge on this one, but I also took that result and ran it through Izotope Rx8. I hope it doesn’t sound overprocessed and weird. Sounded ok to me.

Rebalance in Izotope: Boost bass a lot and guitar a little.
