Since Riot Fest is happening this weekend, I thought I’d post some riot fest stuff that I did back in 2013. Man, I would love to be there this year but I could not swing it. Here is a partial Peelander-Z show- I watched the beginning of the set from the beer garden in the VIP area and had to film. Guest appearance by Poistcarder Daryl P Brothers.. I think I filmed with the Canon HFM30 at this fest. Audio from stock mic.

This was the first time seeing Naked Raygun in about 6 years, so I was very excited. Add a few beers before the show & a red bull from friend Daryl Brothers from backstage, and you set the stage for extremely erratic and hyperactive camerawork. I still like it, I hope you do too. This was such a fun weekend, We had VIP passes and the drinks were cheap. so the strategy was to drink early and then sober up as the day went on. Well, I might have had a few too many beers and it was time to video Raygun & FLAG. I asked my friend Daryl to grab me a red bull from backstage, and this is the result. Sorry for the camerawork. In my defense, I was almost crushed at least 5 times. Then the storm came in and we were evacuated, and I could not find the car. This is a must-see just for all the chaos. I really thought that the stage was going to fall on us. Unbelievable.

I was having my coffee at 7am today and looking for a good video to use for today’s “On This Date” and I found this one. I go to watch/listen to it and the one I posted TWELVE YEARS AGO had the wrong audio. It was the crappy distorted camera audio. D’oh, no wonder why it never broke 100 views!
So I got the Blu Ray out of the collection and converted it to MP4. Handbrake took 5 hours to do this. That’s why you haven’t heard from me today.

After the scary storm that shut down the FLAG show and caused an hour-plus delay, they resumed the show with Bad Religion. The rain held off long enough for me to get a decent video of the show. The sky then opened up and it POURED during the Rancid set.

Well, this video is not good. So this was the one of the first bands at Riot Fest and I had my camcorder, but the policy on video for the fest was vague. So I whipped out my camera and took photos while taping. I was acting like I was taking photos, putting camera down etc until about halfway through the set. It became apparent that no one gave a shit, so I started filming.. and I filed for 2 days straight. Man was I tired. Filmed with a Canon HFM30 and stock mic.

As I was unpacking boxes in the new room, I saw this disc and popped it in. It turned out pretty good for a handheld job. Filmed with either a Canon HFM30 or HF200 with stock mic from the VIP section. Great, fun show. They sound like they had quite a few drinks backstage beforehand. My favorite part is at the end when Paul does a drum fill and chucks his sticks up in the air, mid-roll. Hilarious.

I was going to post another op ivy thing today, but I couldn’t find it offhand. I was cleaning up my hard drive (cleared 500GB of space!) and came across this one. It was WAY too bassy so I EQ’d the ridiculous amounts of bass it had, then popped it into Izotope RX8 to bring the guitar up. It was buried. It sounds pretty good now.
This was the first time I ever heard the band and loved it- I bought the back catalog after this set.

The Cafe Colonial was the site for Ken’s 2013 Bat Guano Fest. Here is the full set played by the Strange Party. This was also the night of the final Abandoned Generation show. Pug Skullz, No Beatings, The Moans and Forum Walters also graced the stage for Ken’s birthday…with an impromptu appearance by Final Summation.
