Jason Lytle & Virgil Shaw- 1st Friday Fest, 10th Street Plaza, Modesto Ca. 9/6/19 4K UHD LIVE

My plans for this past Friday changed pretty much the second I saw Middagh Goodwin’s post on Wednesday. Jason Lytle was playing Modesto’s version of Sac’s second saturday. It was nice to finally see him play- he rarely performs and it has been years since I last saw a show.

He swapped songs with Virgil Shaw, who used to be in Brent’s TV (Gilman Connection) & Dieselhad in the 80s/90s. Great stuff- he is very entertaining to watch – very animated.

We get a new song from Jason that he wrote in his truck that morning- called “Going to Hell”.

Huge thanks to Middagh for booking this show.

Joel Geronimo & Lefty- 1st Friday Fest, 10th Street Plaza, Modesto Ca. 9/6/19 4K UHD LIVE

Joel Geronimo & Lefty opened the 1st friday fest show with Jason Lytle. I don’t know a lot about him, but I thought it was pretty good- good enough to pull the camera out. Sorry for the low audio levels- one of the downsides of the GH5S is that the levels don’t adjust high enough- even when I have the Rode mic on the highest sensitivity setting. Turn it up!

Starting a new series of video posts called “I forgot to post them a long time ago and was shocked when I searched the sac music archive and they were not there”. Nice and concise.
Anyway, I probably held this one back because it was dark and vocals are a bit buried… but after taking another look, this isn’t as dark as I remember and vocals are fine on the slower songs.
Speaking of slower songs, this show happened after they released Indestructible Machine, but before Somewhere Else. I think they were touring the Boy Crazy EP. They only played 1 song from IM (at my request- my nickname is now “SACRAMENTO”), some of the Boy Crazy EP, and then a LOT of new songs that would appear on Somewhere Else.

Great White- Modesto Centre Plaza 10/27/99 xfer f/8mm Master Video Tape incomplete

Anonymous 2’s collection has not only a ton of local demos, but there are a few videos in there as well! This is one of them.

Warning- even though this is from the master, it sucks pretty badly. The camera is all over the place and rarely hits the stage. When it does hit the stage, the view is obstructed by heads. The audio is distorted. I’m really selling this one! But, it is a newly digitized Great White video from 25+ years ago, if you are into them.

I highly recommend reading the book “Killer Show” which is a clinical takedown of all responsible parties of the Station Night Club fire.. including Great White.

Hot Spit Dancers- Moose Lodge, Modesto Ca. 1/6/84 xfer from master tape

As promised, here is the Terry O’Reilly bonus post for the day. I never thought I would be able to see this band play since I missed them by about a year back in the 80s. I know the term gets overused, but they were a legendary band. Just amazing that video exists after all this time.

Band members:
Nick Kappos (aka Big Nick Slurb), guitar
Tharon Knight, bass
Vince Voodoo, vocals
Ronnie Burns, drums
