Ramona- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 8/14/19 4K UHD Live Rode Videomic Pro

Ramona were from Seattle and are now based in Philadelphia. Joe Burns- do you know these guys? They were pretty good and really funny. Sorry for the audio levels bouncing all over the place- my only complaint with the GH5S is that I need to shut it off to adjust settings- even audio levels. So I play around with the attenuation level on the mic to get it to a decent volume, but I could not get it dialed in for some reason.

Elway- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 8/14/19 4K UHD Live Rode Videomic Pro

Sean Hills brings yet another great band to town, who I had never heard of before. Sean has been responsible for my “discovering” many of my favorite bands- Civil War Rust, City Mouse, Smoking Popes– he announces them and I go to listen to what they are all about and a good portion of the time I am floored. You should pay attention to what he and all of the local promoters are doing- you’ll find one who books stuff that is aligned with your tastes.
Elway is from Colorado, of course. They started out playing party pop punk type stuff, and then got a little more serious. Good stuff.

Sam Russo- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 8/14/19 4K UHD Live Video w/ Rode Videomic Pro

After a busy night at home, I rushed over to Press Club to see one of the better bills in a while- Elway, Ramona, Sad Girlz Club (who I missed) and this guy. Sam Russo played second on the bill and is a punk solo acoustic performer, similar to Frank Turner. In fact, he has opened for Frank before. This is only the last 6 minutes of the set.

Civil War Rust- Press Club, Sacramento 5/1/19 Multicam Live

Have I mentioned how happy I am that Civil War Rust is back? Not only that, they have released a couple of great EP’s over the past 6 months or so. The 2 songs on the Squarecrow split are right up there with the best songs from “Help Wanted”. Can’t wait to see them again next month @ Ivy Room.

This was supposed to be a 6 camera deal, but I forgot the little mountin bolts for my 3 gopros so this is what I got. Turned out nice anyway.

Build Us Airplanes- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 5/1/19 Canon HFG30 Rode Audio

Build Us Airplanes played their first show in 6 years last Wednesday, for Sean’s big birthday/hotdog bash. I was setting up my cameras and I caught most of their set with the G30 mounted to the back post. The angle is static, but it sounds good. Good band- I bought their LP because they sounded so good.

PS: Sweet shot of Pat Hills doing sound & drinking beer at the beginning. The man can multitask!
