The Avengers- Ivy Room, Albany Ca. 10/19/18 Live Canon HFG40 & Rode Videomic Pro Stereo

This show was super challenging to film. I had planned to do a multicamera of the show, but I could not find anyone from the band to ask about it until the last minute, and it was SUPER crowded. I would have lost my main spot for the camera I operate if I started putting Gopros on the stage.
When the show started, the orange spotlight was right on Penelope’s face and she was totally washed out on camera, so I had to decrease my exposure to bring her features back. That makes the rest of the stage pretty dark. Meh, oh well.. it was a GREAT show and it sounds amazing. This is the best show I have seen of theirs and Penelope sounded really good.
I turned exposure back to auto so I could get footage of the crowd going crazy during the encores. The camera is a bit shaky throughout because I was getting bumped into constantly.

The Pathogens- Ivy Room, Albany Ca. 10/19/18 Canon HFG40 Rode Videomic Pro Stereo

It’s been a while since I have seen the Pathogens, and they have a bunch of new songs. The band includes Cinder from Tilt, Jesse from Blatz, and members of many east bay punk bands. I bought their cassette at the show and I think it is an advance of their upcoming LP.
Jesse still managed to jump into the audience and get to the back of the club, even though it was packed. The crowd was helping him out with the mic cable, good team effort.

Charger- Ivy Room, Albany Ca. 10/6/18 Single Cam Version Canon HFG40 Rode Stereo Videomic Pro

So every once in a while a new band will come around that blows you away. It has happened twice this year- Sad Girlz Club over the summer, and now Charger. I wasn’t planning on going to the show- I’ve been sick all week and need the rest.. but they posted their 3 song EP and I couldn’t not go.
Charger is Jason Willer on drums and vocals (Jello Biafra and TGSOM, Alaric, Cross Stitched Eyes, Enemies), Matt Freeman on bass and vocals (Operation Ivy, Rancid), and Andrew McGee on guitar. This is a MUST WATCH- it is great to see guys this talented playing together.

The Coverups- Ivy Room, Albany Ca. 3/6/18 Multicam Canon HFG40 Rode VPS Green Day

So with the help of Todd Pritchard (who tipped me off that the show was happening), I was able to score a ticket to one of the Coverups’ shows. It was a lot of fun- almost 2 hours of great cover songs. Plus, Tre Cool gets up on stage for a Foxboro Hot Tubs song, and Jason Beebout gets up there for one.
This was filmed with my Canon HFG40 and Rode Video Pro Stereo mic (that’s the one I am moving around), 1 gopro hero5 silver and 1 gorpo hero5 black. I had just bought the black from the gopro official refurb store on ebay… and it was faulty. There are many glitches from that one angle due to that gopro. My good friend Agelos still made the edit work, but it took a lot more effort to make it happen. Thanks Agelos. The gopros’ batteries conk out about halfway through, and someone with a camera on a tripod got front and center.. so the ending is not so good.
Oh, one last thing. I usually get permission to film bands, but they showed up and went right on stage. If the band wants this pulled down, please message me. Thanks!
