Couch Potato Massacre- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 7/20/24 4K UHD Master Minneapolis Punk

Couch Potato Massacre (from Minneapolis) was part of that show that City Mouse headlined at the Cafe a couple months back. In fact, I think they did this whole part of the tour with them. Miski described them as a great band that plays songs about classic TV.. and with song like “Flaming Moe”, “We’re the Meeseeks” and “Carlos the Dwarf”, she wasn’t wrong. Since I am not big on novelty bands, I was planning on sitting this set out (I was tired) but then they started and they had that classic, early soul asylum sound that I love so much. So, long story short, I scrambled and got the camera ready and got most of their set.

Goblin Mode- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 7/20/24 4K UHD Video with Schoeps MK4 Audio

Thanks for the kind birthday wishes today, I really appreciate you all. A lot of friends from the local scene checked in with me, so I’ll put a Sacramento based band up for today.
Goblin Mode formed in 2022 and features Jordan Trucano (Mad Judy, Little Tents, etc) on vocals and guitar; Anthony Onfire on bass; not clear on the drummer, but they had Joe Spitali on an older release…
Blue lights make everything hard to see for the first 3-4min, then it get better. Sounds good.

Tim Williamson- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento 7/20/24 4K UHD Master video Schoeps MK4 Audio Rebel Radio

My good friend Anonymous and I not only taped that City Mouse show together, we also got the rest of the bill- him with the Schoeps MK4V and me with the G9ii.
Tim was in a band called Rebel Radio a few years back and is an excellent songwriter. Every time I see him, I have at least 1 song stuck in my head for days afterward. If you like what you hear, Tim will be playing a longer set at Fig Tree Coffee in Roseville on Wednesday. The venue is really nice- they have good coffee and comfy couches. A nice place to relax and watch a show.

City Mouse- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 7/20/24 4K UHD Multicam w/ Schoeps Audio Pop Punk

Last month, my friend Miski and her band City Mouse came to town for the first time in a little over a year. The band has a new LP done- the street date is 9/5 I think, but you can get early access to buy a copy if you join her Patreon.. which is what I did. It looks like you can also pre-save on Spotify, if you like to support that evil empire. The new album is called “So Far Out”, go look it up along with the last one “Get Right”- great stuff!
This show was special because Davey Tiltwheel was back on a guitar, after missing the Old I show last year due to some health issues. He adds quite a bit with his lead playing. We also get a cameo from Jen from Hammerbombs (and one of City Mouse’s bass players) for a song or 2. Fun night!
The only complaint I had was with the vocals being buried in the mix in the club. Anonymous always gets the best possible sound in his recordings as he focuses on standing in the best sounding spot vs. my spot which needs to work for video. Bummer
