Johnny Rotten- BBC Profile 1/9/81 xfer f/Shortwave Radio Master/Low Gen Cassette P.I.L. Sex Pistols

Well here’s a first- Scott Davey or a friend of his attempted to record stuff off of the BBC by using a short wave radio receiver. He likely recorded the English broadcast from San Francisco. So that is why this sounds so sketchy. Muffled and lots of volume surges. I did a quick check and it seems that this is not out on the internet so it’s worth a post I guess. Hardcore fans only.

If anyone knows of a better version online, let me know and I will post something else from Scott Davey’s collection today.

Henry Paul Band- My Father’s Place, Roslyn NY 8/26/80 Outlaws

Let’s do collections now and a bonus post later. This one comes from Scott Capizzano’s collection. We do not know what this is. I tried Shazam’ing it and nothing came up. Thankfully, youtube’s copyright detection algorithm picked up song titles, and further research led me to the Henry Paul Band.

Here’s what discogs has to say about the band: “US American southern rock/melodic hard rock band formed by Henry Paul after he left Outlaws”

The band did a King Biscuit Flower Hour, but that would have only been about 20-30min long. This one is over an hour. If anyone has an idea as to where/when this is from, please let us know.

Red Asphalt- Rehearsal Promo Videos, San francisco xfer f/band archive VHS tape 1981? Punk No Wave

Here’s the collections post today, from Scott Davey/Iguana Studios. The tape does not give much info about what this is, but it looks like they were lip synching in front of 1 camera for a promo type of video. Check out the graffiti on the wall behind the band- where the heck was this? It this the inside of the vats possibly? rehearsal studio? If anyone knows, please let me know.

More info from the band! “The songs were: Survival, Evasion, Escape and White Meat, Dark Meat. Recorded (and hammed up) at Iguana Rehearsal Studios on Folsom street in SF. Recorded by Floyd Solders, co-owner with Scott Davey of Iguana. Trina James – Vocals, Bruno DeSmartass Bass, Scott Davey – Keyboards, Ted Johnson – Drums, Ronic – Guitar. We have 4 CDs available (one a Live recording) at CDBaby. 1. Unreleased, 2. More Than Alive (Live), 3. The Therapy Sessions, 4. Symphonie Fantastique. Also available on all the usual streaming suspects”

Scott is the keyboard player/vocalist in the band

Impatient Youth- 5(?) Song Demo Incomplete xfer from band manager’s tape

Here is the last Impatient Youth tape I bought- this one said it was a 5 song demo, but when you try to play back, it cuts off after 6 minutes. The other side of this tape is just this odd tape noise. So I guess that’s all there is.
Since the tape has some flaws and is incomplete, it qualifies for Mediocre Monday. Enjoy!

Impatient Youth- 3 song Demo 1981 Vallejo California Punk (Impatient) xfer from Master Demo tape

As I promised last week, here is another (Impatient) youth demo. Once again, I tried to match this up with official releases and nothing correlates with all 3 of these songs. I’m sure someone will set me straight, if they have been released officially. Another awesome Ebay purchase!

(Impatient) Youth- Demo 1981 xfer from master demo cassette tape Vallejo Ca Punk

Ah, Ebay trolling comes through once again. I picked this up for next to nothing from a person who is selling all kinds of cool stuff from the Detroit area. I get the tape and it is obviously from the band, with the track listing along with Guitarist/Vocalist’s name and address written in ballpoint pen. These demos sound fantastic- excellent songs and production. I can’t tell if any of it was released, as there are a bunch of things released in the late 80s on discogs. I did check shazam and it couldn’t ID anything.

Crucifix- Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco 1981 Low Gen Soundboard Audiotape

Here are some more amazing audiotapes from Eric McIntire’s collection. He is a huge Crucifix fan. I thought that I had every old crucifix audiotape that there was to be had, but he gave me 5 or more in this box. I think these may have come from the band.
First one here is a 16 track soundboard recording of the band from a show at the mab in 1981. The flyer is just an example of a 1981 show- this show is an unspecified date.
