The Polyorchids- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 8/31/17 Live Multicam

I had so much fun on my 50th birthday, and it all fell together perfectly. The Blue Lamp had a late slot open up on that day, and 3 of my favorite bands were available to play. So cool- The Polyorchids debuted some new material at the time, which ended up on their new CD. Great performance! Thanks for playing, and happy belated birthday Justin!

Peace Killers- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 8/31/17 Multicam w/Soundboard Audio LIVE

Here is what I believe to be the first multicam edit of one of the most under appreciated bands in Sacramento- Peace Killers. They are totally unique. Andy sings with so much soul, they sound more like a killer classic rock band to me rather than “punk” or “metal”. Love the harmony leads they pull out for some of the songs.

I was looking through my pending edits and was surprised to see that this show had not been edited yet. I think I skipped it initially because the main angle cuts off Cory a bit. But there are no multicams of these guys and the board tape sounds great. Thanks AJ!

Corrputed Morals- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 8/31/17 Live Multicam with Matrix Audio

Here’s a multicam video from my birthday celebration a few years back. We didn’t post it until now because everyone was buying me drinks and I was pretty hammered, so I thought the video would suck… but it didn’t turn out too bad. The only flaw is the audio for the 1st 20min- I rebalanced the board in Izotope and then matrixed it with an audience mic. It sounds good about 20min in, but the 1st 20 are kinda hard to listen to- the bass drum is pretty overpowering.
Thanks again to the band for playing the show, to Gabi & Ben for hosting the show and to everyone there for coming to the show. It was a lot of fun.

Audio rebalance in Izotope rx, matrix in Sony Sound Forge 10.

Yankee Brutal- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 8/30/17 Canon HFG30 Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic

I had not seen Yankee Brutal before, but AJ – sound engineer at the blue lamp & guitar/vocal in the band- invited me to film the show. I was pleasantly surprised- they play a nice blend of crossover thrash and punk. They BROUGHT the energy- their energy on stage and in their music won some people over. The crowd went from disinterested, to listening, to headbanging. Nice job.

Secret Chiefs 3- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca. 8/29/17 Mr. Bungle Canon HFG30 This was a total surprise. I had no idea who these guys were, and then Sherman told me that it was Trey from Mr. Bungle’s band. I had no idea he was doing anything new. So I bought a disc and started filming without knowing anything about them. What a mind-blower! They are so unique, you just need to listen. The most complicated (but still engaging) music I have ever heard. The drummer is ridiculously talented.

Dead Cross- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca. 8/29/17 Canon HFG30 Rode VPS Mic

Here’s the vid posted on the right YT channel. Sorry about that. Dead Cross- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca. 8/29/17 Mike Patton Dave Lombardo Canon HFG30 The challenge of filming at Ace of Spades is getting access to the bands to ask permission. Even though Lisa and the venue staff are totally cool, I usually need to work through layers of people to get to people that I *know* would give me the OK if I could tell them how they knew me way back in the 80s. This time around, 3 people did me a solid to make this happen. Zoran Theodorovic of Capital Chaos TV for giving my DVDs of Mr Bungle/river thtr & Slayer backstage at the stone to the band (through tour manager), Sherman Loper for telling me that Trey from Mr. Bungle was in Secret Chiefs 3 (I had no idea), AND he was at the merch table- I was able to get my pass & equipment in the door.. and Vinny Palese, who secured permission for filming from Dead Cross’ management. Truly a team effort. Thanks guys! I am using the line in setting with the Rode mic and audio is coming out WAY better. I should have been doing that from the start!
