Henry Rollins- Crest Theater, Sacramento Ca. 1/24/97 audio only xfer DAT Sbd master tape Spoken Word

Here is the last time I ever taped Rollins with permission. Henry used to trade tapes back in the 1980s and he would usually be pretty cool with taping. I got the OK to video in 1988 and audio this time. I taped another Crest spoken work show in 2003 from the audience.
This show was a blast. I met Andy Field for the first time- he did sound at the show. I heard that he (or someone) has some old soundboard recordings from Sacramento’s early days of punk, but I can’t seem to get a hold of him. If anyone knows how to get in contact with him, lmk. It would be great to get those shows on the archive.

Warning: This show contains a ton of profanity and is SUPER dynamic. I tried to compress it as much as possible, but it is still very quiet in spots, and super loud in others. Just think- it was worse before!

Man is the Bastard- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca Transfer from 1st/low gen soundboard Powerviolence Punk

Alright, Robert Eggplant is up for a post today and I am indiscriminately working through his folder of stuff and it landed on this today. This one sounds better but is not as funny as that KALX broadcast of a live show where they dropped multiple F bombs in the first minute.

Mick Martin Memorial Series #2: Blow That Harp Independent Release CD 2010ish and Live at the Sutter Street Saloon CD 1997

It’s time for another installment of the Mick Martin Memorial Series. This is a project in collaboration with Dennis Newhall (K-ZAP dot org), Mindy Giles (Sacramento Blues Society) and the Sacramento Music Archive. Mick was so prolific that even with 2 releases every other week, we have over 10 months of material to share! Wow!!
This week, we have 2 CD releases- one from 1997 and one from around 2009 or 2010. This one does not have a date listed on the CD, but the back photo was taken from a 40th anniversary Woodstock gathering which would place it in about 2009 or 2010. This CD seems to be mostly live with the bonus track being a studio recording. Even though this release is labeled as “Mick Martin”, it is a full band performance.

The Next one is a 1997 live CD at Sutter Street Saloon, which is now the location of the Powerhouse Pub in old town Folsom.

Absolutely Zippo- Time Capsule Comp Cassette Arica Pelino Version xfer f/official release Tape

More semi-unknown stuff from Arica Pelino’s collection, via Robert Eggplant. This tape is labeled Time Capsule and it has some commonalities with the Discogs release with the same title and artwork(Naked Aggression is on both, for example) but this one clearly has a different tracklist than the original documented version. I’ll ask Robert if he created multiple Time Capsules- it sure seems like he did.

Revenge of Sac Rocks IV- 93 Rock Comp CD w/Brodys, Go National, Oleander, Decibels, More! Sacramento

Ah man, I hate posting stuff this late. It’s time for the local showcase portion of the collections posts. This one came from the man who helped spur the local showcase idea, Jay Knox! Jay, I still need to get your CD’s back to you. They are over here in the Jay pile.

Lots of great bands on this one- this is one of my favorites in the series.

Recorded by the bands at Pus Cavern I think

Astrolloyd- Geekfest 3, 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca xfer from low gen VHS tape Fleshies

Another late video post. What a long day- I took the kids to Great Amercia which was a 15 hour long outing. I am tired. Here is a video from Robert Eggplant’s collection.

Speaking of Eggplant, he had one of his legendary backyard shows today. I already had the family plans so I couldn’t make it. I hope it went well.

Astrolloyd put out a couple of things in the late 90s on S.P.A.M. records. One of the members ended up playing bass for The Fleshies.

Badfinger- The Rise and Fall Documentary Early Cut xfer from Promo VHS Tape Director’s Cut

I was working in the studio the other day and I was up by Todd Nakamine’s VHS tapes (they are at the very top of a rack, by the ceiling) and I started wondering when the last time was when I posted from his collection…

Turns out that I forgot to put Todd on the spreadsheet of things to post, so I have been skipping him for the last couple months. Sorry Todd- I will make it up with a couple posts soon.

Anyway, this one is pretty unique. As you can see from the thumbnail, this was an early cut of a Badfinger doc that was going to be called “Rise and Fall”. That seems to have changed to “Director’s Cut”, as there is a Badfinger doc by Pegasus Flight Prod on IMDB… and it is a lot longer than this one.

One last thing- in order to unblock this from youtube, I had to edit out a segment from 11min to about 14min. So if it seems to lose continuity around there, that’s why.
