Static Diary (Scott Danbom from Centromatic)- Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx. 6/23/19

There were no posts to the Sac Music Archive over the weekend because I was in Texas going to shows with only a cellphone (and 6 cameras). Friday and Saturday shows were multicams so those will get posted later.

Sunday at the Summer Hangout in Denton started out VERY mellow. I think Travis had a good idea to start things off quietly since Saturday was a party.

I got there early to see Scott Danbom. I loved Centro-Matic and wanted to see what he was up to now. He just released a solo record and played a few songs here.

Baptist Generals- Summer Hangout, Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx. 6/23/19 Live HD Master Canon HF G40

Here is the last single camera video from Summer Hangout. We had this great idea to just power through and not eat dinner until after the show, since the show was scheduled to end at about 10pm. Well, the show ran WAY late and we were STARVING. We tried to make it through the final set but we had to bail. Sorry Travis. Thanks to everyone for the great fest! Wait until you see the Slobberbone multicam- it is going to be excellent!

Ian Moore- Summer Hangout, Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx. 6/23/18 Live HD Master Canon HF G40 Rode Mic

So we went to Hangout to see Slobberbone, but we discovered that another very popular artist was playing. I had never heard Ian Moore and am not a big fan of that genre, so I was skeptical. But WOW, he was excellent. He was very cool and humble, and he obviously has deep friendships with everyone in the Denton scene (and Travis as well). Very cool.

Todd May- Summer Hangout, Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx. 6/23/19 Live HD Master Canon HF G40

Todd May was the second performer on Sunday. I had never seen him perform solo before- I had seen him a bunch of times with Lydia Loveless (he used to call me “Sacramento” haha).
He was very good. You can see the camera drop a few times because I was falling asleep, but it had nothing to do with his performance. The 3rd show in 3 days + travel finally caught up to me.

Brent Best- Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx. 6/23/19 HFG40 Live Slobberbone w/Ian Moore

I haven’t gotten this one edited yet. It was one of those situations where nothing goes right. The gopro on Brian’s side of the stage didn’t work so I only have 2 good angles, plus a gopro on Scott Danbom when he is onstage. Maybe I’ll get them edited one day.

Brent Best- Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx.6/23/19 Multicam with Schoeps Audio Ian Moore Slobberbone

This set closed out our the weekend trip to Texas, and it was perfect. I had never seen Brent solo, so this was a special treat.
With that said, a lot went wrong with the cameras. The gopro on Brian’s side decided to shut off. The main angle (mounted to a pole) cut Brian off a bit, but the stage lighting was very uneven and he was in extremely low blue light… so I left it as is. It’s still cool, just being picky.

Slobberbone- Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton Tx. 6/22/19 Live Multicam w/ Matrix Audio

Me and my friend “Anonymous” flew to Texas to see a weekend’s worth of shows last month. Out of all the video I shot, this one came out the best by far. It’s rare when you do 8 sources (6 cameras + audience + soundboard) and nothing goes wrong. It was really nice seeing Brent and Slobberbone again- great set with great selection of covers.
