Replacements-The Masonic, San Francisco Ca 4/13/15 Anonymous Digital Master Schoeps MK4 Complete Set

This is one of the best, if not THE BEST audience recording of the Replacements’ reunion tour 10 years ago. My good friend Anonymous recorded this with his Schoeps mics from the center of the balcony. Great show and excellent quality!

Equipment used: Schoeps MK4 Pair, Nbob active cables, Tinybox (w/OT), Sony M10
Then I (Shayne) pulled it off the CD’s and prepped it for the upload

The Replacements- Riot Fest, May Farms, Byers Co 9/21/13 1080P Master Paul Wasterberg

As I was unpacking boxes in the new room, I saw this disc and popped it in. It turned out pretty good for a handheld job. Filmed with either a Canon HFM30 or HF200 with stock mic from the VIP section. Great, fun show. They sound like they had quite a few drinks backstage beforehand. My favorite part is at the end when Paul does a drum fill and chucks his sticks up in the air, mid-roll. Hilarious.

Live Concert Video

The Replacements- Orange County Speedway Middletown NY 8/18/89 xfer f/ 1st/2nd gen VHS tape Enhanced

Today’s post is from Ross Weyman’s collection. Ross is an old friend who traded tapes back in the 90s. We reconnected recently and he sent me a stack of VHS tapes to digitize. They are all either better quality than what is on youtube today(such as this one), or they are not online at all. This one is better quality than the slicing up eyeballs version- fewer artifacts, higher resolution. I wish I could have done more with it, but Paul is near overexposed and Slim (R.I.P.) is in very low light. Too many extremes to deal with.

Live Concert Video

The Replacements- Austin Opera House, Texas 4/29/89 xfer f/1st gen audio cassette. Complete show

Here is one of the few from Craig Hilmer’s collection that he did not tape- he got this from a local taper named Charles. The show was split over multiple tapes, so I hope I got the entire thing and the set order right. If not, let me know.

The Replacements- Fender’s Ballroom, Long Beach Ca 12/13/85 xfer f/1st gen audio cassette

This is another one that surprised me by not being online anywhere from what I can tell. I don’t think this one came to me in a trade. It is on a DAT that I got on a trade from Alton Purvis, but it seems that someone brought the 1st gen cassette to me and I dubbed it up to the blank space at the end of the tape. This one was done with my OLD mid-90s setup.

Fans of the band know that their performances were unpredictable. They were definitely ON for this one. Even the reviewer was impressed. Cuts at 90, as does the master I believe.

I wonder how the taper snuck the huge deck into these taper hostile clubs.
