Class System- Colonial Theatre, Sacramento Ca. 2/22/20 Live Sacramento Punk Lumix GH5S Rode Videomic

What a show last night! It was so nice to see Sacramento show up and support Ben & Gabi, and Hannah Chamberlain. Lots of guys my age bringing their kids & family to the show- it was really nice to see.
Class System opened the show. It’s funny, Nikki’s vocals sounded garbled to me coming out of the P.A., but they sound great here. I hope the rest of the bands sound as good.
As an aside, I show all the bands, and Avengers/TSOL with 7 cameras. That was a ton of work. I feel like I was hit by a truck today.

T.S.O.L.- Colonial Theater, Sacramento Ca. 2/22/20 7 Camera Multicam Live TSOL Punk

I don’t think anyone needs another COVID-19 take. I’ll just say that the shutdown is going to hurt our favorite venues, and all of their employees. Please do what you can to help, if you are able to do so. If we all work together, we can take care of the venues and the people who make them happen.

Here is the TSOL set from last month’s amazing show. For some reason, my roving angle has an odd shadow/psychedelic effect going. We have no idea why it happened, and we are not planning on re-do’ing it. Just think of it as a video effect.

Sick Burn- Colonial Theatre, Sacramento Ca. 2/20/20 4K UHD Live Hardcore Punk Canon HFG50

First off, check out that thumbnail of Anthony. See that smile? That’s what a week in Hawaii will do for you.
Sick Burn was second up, at the unbelievably stacked Saturday show. They sounded great! Shout out to Travis the sound guy- it sounded pretty damned good all night.

Kicker- Colonial Theatre, Sacramento Ca. 2/22/20 Live Punk 4K UHD Operation Ivy Neurosis

Kicker was up next on Saturday night. I had heard of the band and checked them out online, but I had no idea that it was a punk “supergroup” with Dave Ed from Neurosis on bass and Dave Mello from Operation Ivy/Bobby Joe Ebola and many more. What a nice surprise. Band was great, and it sounds good after I fix my mic setting.

The Lewd- Colonial Theatre, Sacramento Ca. 2/22/20 Live 4K UHD Canon HFG50

I probably should have done some type of multicamera setup for this set, but I did not have enough time to set it all up. Plus, the Avengers and TSOL sets are 500GB between the 2 of them… my RAID is fulllll
Anyway, The Lewd were good- they sounded pretty tight for a band that doesn’t play too often. Glad I finally got to see them.

The Avengers- Colonial Theatre, Sacramento Ca. 2/22/20 7 camera Multicam w/Rode Videomic Pro Stereo

I have seen the Avengers a LOT over the past 6 years, and this was the best show I have seen them play. SO great. Every single person I talked to after the show mentioned how good they were. I really appreciate Penelope giving me permission to do this.

The O’Mulligans- Colonial Theater, Sacramento Ca. 11/9/19 4K UHD Rode Stereo Videomic Pro

So EVERYTHING went wrong during the O’Mulligans’ set. The power went off to David’s amp, the PA went out at least twice… a lesser band would have crumbled. They rose to the occasion- they were entertaining throughout and the last song (he hate me) was HILARIOUS. So, a must-watch if you know the band, probably not the best intro to them though. Pick another video for that 🙂

The Enlows- Colonial Theater, Sacramento Ca. 11/9/19 4K UHD Live

I was excited to see The Enlows- I have never filmed them multicam, and the theater is a good place to film. I had my 4 cameras running and everything was going great…
Then they announce from stage that the Joe Queer/Moans show was moved from the Theater(where all of the cameras were set up), over to the cafe and starting soon! I TOTALLY panic and start shutting down cameras and throwing them in my bag while the band plays, apparently breaking a rode mic in the process. I missed the last couple songs, including a Ramones cover. Sorry Enlows. I’ll get it right one of the days.

The Bitters- Colonial Theater, Sacramento Ca. 11/9/19 4K UHD Live Rode Mic

I filmed all of the bands from Colonial Theater last Saturday with 4 cameras and I recorded the show through the soundboard, but it will probably be a while before those are edited. In the meantime, here is a single camera, 4K version of the show. This was my first time seeing The Bitters, good band. Props for doing a faithful cover of Blue Swede’s “I’ve Got a Feeling” (including the OOGACHAKAS!). Probably the strangest pop song ever.
