The Monks Of Doom: The Make-Out Room San Francisco, CA 5/19/18 Multicam

I can’t remember why, but I was tied up with something and I left for the show late. Parking around the makeout room is a huge pain in the ass, so I stressed out while trying to park for 20min or so. I walked a couple of blocks with my equipment and talk to Victor- they are going on in 10 minutes. So I scrambled to get my stuff set up- so glad I made it- this is a great set. They were totally on that night.

Russ Tolman- Make Out Room, San Francisco Ca. 3/18/17 Part 1 True West

This was such a fun show. Barbara Manning had not played in SF for a LONG time (10 years?) and so the show had a family reunion vibe going. Russ opened, accompanied by Robert Lloyd. Please pardon the chatter, lots of people were catching up. Still sounds great. The flashing effect is part of the make out room’s lighting, unfortunately.

Barbara Manning and the One Night Band- Make Out Room, San Francisco Ca. 3/18/17 Multicam Rode Audio

Man, I can’t believe it has been 3 years since this happened. Barbara played 2 shows in the bay area in 2017- she would gather up some musician friends to play a show- hence the “one night band”. I think they practiced once. This one came off a lot better than the Ivy Room show, pretty tight performance for 1 practice! I don’t know all of the musicians on stage, but Barabra’s sister Terri does some harmony vocals and Melanie Clarin (Yard Sale, Donner Party, SF Seals, Harm Farm) plays drums and adds some vocals. It was nice to see them playing/singing together again.
The Make-Out room has some funky lighting. They have the type of lights that make my cameras freak out(tungsten?) and on top of that, they have a fan in front of them which exaggerates the flicker. The show sounded great and I’m pretty happy with the video despite all of that.
