Suicidal Tendencies- Aftershock Festival, Discovery Park, Sacramento Ca. 10/8/21 4K Live DPA Mics

After Dropkick Murphys, I hauled ass over to the Coors Light stage and Suicidal started right when I was walking up. The stage was packed and there was nowhere to go- I cut my way through the crowd until I found a pocket of space in front of the soundboard. It was still totally chaotic- hands in the air constantly and people were going nuts.
If you don’t watch this entire thing, I encourage you to forward the video to about the 32:30 mark and watch the insanity during “cyco Vision”. That pit pushed me from my spot and I was crushed up against a big guy who asked me to move. Since there was nowhere to go and the Rancid set was due to start, I just bailed.
Oh, one last thing- You will notice a big drop in quality from about 25min to 32min. I could not get pluraleyes to synch the DPA audio to the video. When I synched it manually, the program I use to join all these fragments took a dump. After screwing around with it for days, I’m just leaving it like this. If anyone want to see Subliminal with better audio, I’ll post it.

Suicidal Tendencies- Orion Fest, Atlantic City NJ 6/23/12 Robert Trujillo and Infectious Grooves

Orion was such a great festival. I got to see Roky Erickson, Volbeat, Ghost (in the daytime!) along with Metallica playing RTL and Black album in their entirety. The surprise of the weekend for me was this set. Suicidal played the smallest stage and there had to be 10,000 people there. It just went back for miles. I was pretty close, so I was getting smacked around a bit. Also, my arm was super tired so I did not film the entire set. Robert Trujillo makes a surprise appearance and plays on ST and Infectious Grooves songs. For Paul Piazza and Kim Cook (because she was there, but missed this set!)

Suicidal Tendencies- UC Irvine, Irvine Ca 8/19/90 xfer from 2nd gen VHS tape Complete show

I found this one for today’s On This Date in History- it’s a 2nd gen VHS tape from Bootleg Cowboys’ collection. I checked online and there is only a poor quality incomplete version on youtube, from what I could find.

Keeping it short because I fractured my arm on Sunday night. Typing with a cast is no fun. Haha

Suicidal Tendencies- Ruthie’s Inn, Berkeley Ca 4/18/86 xfer from soundboard cassette tape rebalanced

As I was digging through Wayne’s box of tapes, I came across this one. I knew that there were other soundboard recordings from this night, but I had never even heard about Suicidal being recorded. All of the board tapes from that night were recorded in 1 channel but it is pretty easy to fix that with software now.
Not much drums in the mix, so I pushed that and the bass up a bit. Sounds a lot fuller now.

Suicidal Tendencies- Oasis Ballroom, Sacramento Ca 10/13/85 xfer f/ 1st gen audio cassette complete

This one comes from Wayne Vanderkuil’s collection. Wayne deserves a big thanks for keeping all of his tapes throughout the years.

I have mentioned this before, but I’ll say it again. I got started in the tape trading hobby back in 1986 or 1987 and I got a big boost when Mark Martin let me buy his live tape collection at that time, for the price of the blank tapes. He did keep some of his master recordings, which is why some legendary Sacramento shows have not made their way onto the archive yet. This was one of those shows- I did not have a copy and Mark didn’t have it anymore either. In comes Wayne (hero music plays).

All that being said, this tape doesn’t sound great. A lot of tapes recorded with that Panasonic consumer deck had this blurry sounding rumbling low end. I did learn today that most of that bad stuff is at the 56hz band of the EQ, so I can start pulling that out completely (like I did here) to make them listenable. Cool.

Suicidal Tendencies- Ruthie’s Inn, Berkeley Ca 10/12/85 xfer from master audio cassette

Wayne Vanderkuil’s collection delivers the goods again! This one sounds pretty decent for a non-pro recording from 1985. I EQ’d it do bring the mids down and bass up, but it was clean enough to make sound ok. Wow!
I’ve got the Beowulf tape on my desk, so I’ll get that one done soonish

Suicidal Tendencies- Ruthies Inn, Berkeley Ca. 1985 xfer from low gen audio cassette REPOST

I made a mistake yesterday- I assumed that suicidal only played Ruthie’s once. They played at least 3 times. After some detective work, we think that the suicidal show I posted yesterday as 4/18/86 is probably 2/15/85. Dan Hague already posted 4/18/86 from Chris Dodge’s collection and it is a different show. This setlist leans heavily toward the 1st LP, and someone yells “play some possessed” repeatedly at about the 33min mark. Possessed opened the 2/15/85 show, and the ST song “Possessed to Skate” was written, but it seems to have different lyrics/different name. So, 90% sure it is 2/15/85.
