Jesus & the Dinosaurs- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 9/27/19 4K UHD Live

I had a work event until late on Friday so I missed Lamonta (who sound great btw) and most of the O’Mulligans’ sets. There was a guy who was with the band shooting with a couple of cameras. If you see this and want to use this footage, please contact me at shaynestacy@hotmail.com.

While I still miss the original wild & flailing armed drummer, the band is much tighter with the “new” guy. They have quite the following.

The Four Eyes- Bat Guano Fest, Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 9/21/19 4K UHD Live

The Four Eyes were the last band to play this year’s Bat Guano Fest. This is the 3rd time I have seen them. They were good this time & when I video’d them at CIP, but they were AMAZING the one time I didn’t film them. They opened for MTX at DNA Lounge in SF, and I was STARVING. I got to listen to the set from downstairs while I ate pizza. Oh well. Video looks and sounds nice. Good job with sound by Sean Hills in a tough room.

The Enlows- Bat Guano Fest, Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 9/21/19 4K UHD Live

The Bat Guano fest had bands playing at both venues- Cafe Colonial and The Colony. It seems that The Enlows started their set while Freature were still playing at The Colony. I think that Freature went a little long. So that keep my streak of starting to record video while the band is playing for the entire night intact.
The Enlows released a full length CD for the first time after about 20 years of being a band! I picked it up at the show and it is pretty cool. Nice sticker included. Pick it up at outloud records’ bandcamp site.

Cory Wiegert- Bat Guano Fest, Cafe Colonial, Sacramento 9/21/19 4k UHD Live

I feel like I should apologize to Ken and Cory for this video. It has multiple cuts- once due to me trying to set levels on the camera, one for screwing up and recording on an almost-full memory card. I miss about a song. Ugh. It looks good, though.

Your Friends- Bat Guano Fest, The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 9/21/19 4K UHD Live

This was Your Friends’ 2nd show ever, and my first chance to see them. Wow! This is the catchiest/pop punkiest stuff I have ever heard Jordan Wolfe do. I loved it, and I’ll be back for more when they play again.

Freature- Bat Guano Fest, The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 9/21/19 4K UHD Live

Man, I love these guys. Pretty unique mix of punk and power pop. So I forgot to plug my camera mic in for the first 2min of the show. I was going to include the video here, but I watched it and the audio is total distortion. Good to know that the camera can’t handle a mic plug in without requiring a stop/start, and that the internal mic can’t handle volume. It was super loud. When David would hit the bass drum, a big puff of air would hit me in the face occasionally. I can’t say that has ever happened. Sounds pretty damned good despite the volume Well done, Sean!

Kepi Ghoulie Electric- Blue Lamp, Sacramento 9/20/19 Multicam w/ Soundboard Audio B-Face Roy Muffs!

I am cleaning and archiving hundreds of multicam MP4’s from my hard drive, and I stumbled across this one. We never posted it at the time, then I forgot about it. This is a special show with Kepi, B-Face AND Roy McDonald from the Muffs doing a full band set! Great set full of Kepi and Ghoulies classics.
On a side note, I was going to ask Roy about The Muffs and when they were going to tour, but I got busy filming MTX… Kim passed away a couple weeks after this show. It was probably for the best that I missed him.

This show was mixed before I had the ability to matrix my own audio, or rebelance it in Izotope… the mix is “OK”, but it could have been better. Oh well.

Motorcycle- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 9/20/19 Live first show ever! Croissants

Motorcycle is a new band with Chris Sabatoni from The Croissants, Kortnee Barnett Angel on bass, and Sarah Sintaku on drums.
I missed the first song because I was talking to friends, and right when I got my camera going, the next song was a false start. Don’t hold that against them, they are really good!

Iron Maiden- Golden 1 Center, Sacramento 9/9/19 New Audio Source DPA 4061 mics LIVE

Here’s my audio recording from Monday night’s show. The bass was a little overpowering so I shaved off about 2db of low end, and it is STILL boomy. Much better audio than the camera’s audio in my opinion. It starts out a little muddy and they get it dialed in at about 45:00. Fwd to at least 7:30 to see how it sounds- the beginning is a little messy.

Iron Maiden- Golden 1 Center, Sacramento Ca. 9/9/19 4K UHD Live Full Complete Show

I have mixed feelings about this one. The ZS70 has a “feature” where it loses focus when you pan and zoom, so you can see me constantly refocusing… which annoys the hell out of me. With that said, I was able to get some really nice closeups. I do have a much better audio source, so please let me know if you think it is worth synching that audio with this video. I am on the fence.
The video is still processing- it has been more than a day so far and is currently at 1080p. If you want to see it in 4k, give it a day or so.
