Groovie Ghoulies- Crest Theatre, Sacramento Ca 1/27/00 xfer from Master DAT Audio Remix

Hey, Kepi announced a show at the Side Door on October 15- it should be a good time. That venue is really nice- it is Eric Bianchi’s home base so you know it’s gonna sound good.. and they are going to do the entire Appetite for Adrenochrome album with full band!
I figured I would post a Ghoulies thing today since I had them on my mind. Here is the time they opened up for the (fake) Misfits at the Crest! The mix was shockingly not great (Crest boards usually sound fantastic, so I brought up the guitar a lot. The drums still sound funny to me, but it’s as good as it is gonna get.

Mummydogs- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 1/7/00 xfer DAT Master Roland MX-5 Rebalanced Thin White Rope

It’s been a while since I posted audio, so I decided to switch it up and post this Mummydogs recording today. This was from the era that I used a battery powered mixer to tap into the soundboard and mix the set live. That was a problem because it was loud in the club so it was hard to hear the mix clearly. On this one, I mixed the drums a little too high so I used Izotope to boost bass and guitar. Sounds pretty good now!

Mummydogs features a bunch of great Davis musicians, including Guy Kyser from Thin White Rope and Johanna Galos (Kyser) from Thornucopia. They released one great album on Frontier then disappeared.

Secretions & Milhouse SMF- California Tour Tape 2000

Here is a fun one from Charles Albright’s collection. This one has multiple shows from both The Secretions and Milhouse SMF, with some interviews/shenanigans in between… PLUS performances by the Peeping Toms & Stupid Jerks

I see lots of people I know in here: Mickie Rat, Danny Reynoso, Charles Albright, Lory Gilpatrick, Jeff Melendez, and I am sure I am missing some.

Here is some excellent commentary from Jeff Melendez:

This gem, filmed at the turn of the century, plays out more like a documentary than just show footage, although there is plenty of show footage. Fans of Final Summation?, The Peeping Toms were the precursor band. This line up was I think our last. we see our Stockton friends Steve, Adam Miller , and Ted Angelin the stupid jerks, who nowadays you might recognize Ted from The Mr. T Experience.

The story develops into a traveling spree where we find Milhouse SMF (Milhouse Reunion 2010) and The Secretions driving out to KDVS for a studio a live broadcast (Dated 1/6/00-ed). (Thanks to Bobby Jordan and Heather for the fade out)Scott Soriano gave us the honor of interviewing us and pushing the tour joke that we were hating on the bananas, which if you didn’t get it IT WAS A JOKE.
The live set by the secretions was beyond tight. In fact later when we arrive in Redding (anyone got the name of that pizza place?) they do it again with a performance that just dosent ever stop. Danny Reynoso how did you do it? So many songs in a row always getting faster and faster.

I haven’t watched all the way through but I know what’s in store for me. You will see us hanging with the Kansas City Stars, drinking beer after beer in a cemetery, threatening a plush banana ( that we stole from the loft) with a “blade”, you will see more driving Andre then Giant Van, you will see another set in Ashland I believe(I hope), but more than that and above all else you will see how Charles, Candice, and I got out of Citrus Heights and hit the road.

“C’mon let’s get in the van and hit the road! LETS GO!!!”

The Peeping Toms- Live in KDVS Studio Multicam Video 1990-2000ish

I thought I had already digitized all of Jordan’s VHS tapes. I thought that this was audio only, and discovered a proshot video! I had no idea KDVS did this- was this public access? Are there any more proshot KDVS videos? So many questions.

Green Day- Tokyo, Japan 2000? xfer from DAT Master/Clone Audio Soundboard Live

Man, I hope I don’t piss anyone off by sharing this one. When we were doing work for the documentary, I transferred this DAT. It just said “FARGO” on the J-Card. After listening to it, the show is obviously from Tokyo. It is ROUGH- not only is the mix super raw (sounds like a monitor mix), but Billie Joe has laryngitis. A classic “the show must go on” moment, and they still kick ass.
