Geraldine Fibbers- TV Munich, Germany 11/6/97 xfer from record company promo VHS master tape

Wow. I snagged this off of Ebay quite a while back and finally got around to digitizing and, it is fantastic! California Tuffy, an interview and Trashman and furs. It sounds so great that it almost seems like it is a lip synch, but I don’t think the studio versions of these songs are this intense. Damn, I wish there was a full set of this.

Geraldine Fibbers- Exit/in, Nashville Tn. 3/12/96 Sbd f/ DAT Master Clone Rebalanced Carla Bozulich

Aw man, another long standing venue has announced that they are closing their doors. Exit/In in Nashville is calling it quits after 50+ years. It feels like the old independent bar/live music venue concept seems to be dying a slow death – people are going elsewhere for entertainment, or the ones left are being swallowed up by the Live Nation machine. Ugh.
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite live recording from this venue. My friend Marcus Winfree lived in Nashville for a stretch and taped all kinds of good stuff down there, including this show. The mix was lacking guitars so I fixed it up a bit. I wish I could have pushed the guitar a bit more, but Carla would have been totally drowned out on the loud songs later in the set.
It sounds like this is one of Nels’ first shows, he was announced as a temporary fill-in for Daniel Keenan.

Audio Live Concert

Geraldine Fibbers- Aron’s Records, Hollywood Ca. 7/8/95 xfer from master live videotape w/Soundboard

I don’t think I ever posted or shared this video before. The audio from the camera’s stock audio mic was terrible- totally distorted. I tried to do some shadow correction in premiere but it kinda freaked out, so I merely denoised/degrained the video.
I’ve also had a DAT master soundboard of the show, but the mix was pretty uneven. I was able to rebalance it in izotope to make it listenable.. I pushed it as far as I could without making it sound weird.

Featuring the head and long black hair of Todd Nakamine in the foreground 🙂

Oh, and this is the earliest GF video on youtube… which proves nothing except show how old I am.

Sony TCD-D7 through soundboard

Live Concert Video

Geraldine Fibbers- Arons Records, Hollywood Ca. 7/8/95 Audio DAT Complete show SBD remixed Live

Here is the full soundboard from the Aron’s show. I posted the video earlier this week, but it cuts in at abour the 10 minute mark. I can’t remember, and I wonder why I didn’t film the entire show. I think I was worried about standing in front of people… which explains why I cut Jessy off on the video rather than filming straight on.
One of the best encores ever- Dragon Lady/The Grand Tour. Damn.

Geraldine Fibbers- KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic Live in Studio 7/6/95 Audio only xfer FM DAT clone

Here’s today’s thing. I was working on a video of one of my all-time favorite bands, The Geraldine Fibbers and I found this DAT along with the other one. Here is a DAT clone of their appearance on KCRW MBE, right around when “Lost Somewhere…” was released. I love GF, especially pre-Nels.
