D Generation- Doug Fir Lounge, Portland Or. 8/30/16 1080p master w/Rode audio RIP Howie Pyro

So I went to play this video on the sac music archive yesterday(I posted it in 2016) and I realized that I posted the file with 90 seconds of no music from before the concert, rather than the concert itself. So here it is for the first time, I guess.
I have so many friends who knew Howie and the tributes have been amazing- what a life. I regret not meeting him.
Here is the original note from the 2016 listing:

I have been getting lucky lately on my business trips to Portland. Last time I was up, Venom Inc happened to be playing and this time D Generation was playing Doug Fir Lounge. I know some of their material, but not all of it.. they were AMAZING. They are one of those bands who has such mastery of the songs that they just melt your face with a nonstop wall of energy for an hour-plus. REALLY great. The only downside of the video is there is a slight vibration that I did not notice while filming & looking at the small camera screen. I should have known, as the steps I was standing on were hollow. Dammit. Filmed with Canon HFG30 and Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic.

Brothers of the Sonic Cloth- Ash Street Saloon, Portland, Or. 2009? Tad Doyle xfer from 8mm master

Here’s another video courtesy of Craig Babb, and it’s a pretty special one. This appears to be the earliest BOTSC footage out there. This was years before they were signed to Neurot, and around the time they released a 2 song CDR demo. Very cool, thanks Craig!

Mudhoney- Sabala’s Portland, OR 12/1/06 xfer from 8mm master video with improved Nakamichi CM300 Aud

Here is an upgrade of one of Craig Babb’s videos I posted a few months ago. It has some great footage but the audio was distorted pretty badly. I saw someone post their recording of the show using nakamichi cm-300 mics and it sounds amazing! I asked Derek Purtell to help me synch this (not easy with 2 analog sources with cuts) and he did a great job as usual.

Thanks to the taper who gave the ok for his audio to be used.

Mudhoney- Sabala’s Portland Or 12/1/06 xfer from master tape enhanced

A couple years back, Barry Ward sent me a collection of master videotapes from his friend Craig. It took me forever to get to these, but I got these digitized last summer and now I am enhancing and posting them. This video is great but audio on is pretty distorted- I checked the usual places and could not find a good audio recording to match up. Let me know if one exists.

Adolescents- BComplex, Portland Or 8/12/06 xfer from master tape Live

Here’s another nice looking video from Craig Babb. There is no decent quality video of the band from this era, so happy this exists. Same call goes out on this one – if anyone has any leads on any high quality audio from this show, let me know.

Witch Mountain- Sabala’s, Portland Or 9/30/05 xfer from 8mm master tape enhanced PART 2

About 7 months ago, I posted part 1 of this show, thinking that was all the video we had. After working through the rest of Craig’s tapes, I see that we have more to the show. If I had more time, I would dig out the other disc and put these 2 together, but not enough time for that now. If you want to see the first part of the show, you can find it on the youtube channel or sacramentomusicarchive dot com.

Acid King- Sabala’s, Portland Or 9/30/05 xfer from master tape enhanced Stoner Rock Doom Metal

Here’s another video from Craig Babb’s collection. Audio is distorted, so if anyone has a lead on a cleaner audio source, let me know. Even though they are from SF, Acid King has a pacific northwest connection- the vocalist/guitarist in the band, Lori Steinberg, was married to Dale Crover.

Witch Mountain- Sabala’s, Portland Or. 9/30/05 xfer from master videotape enhanced

When I got the box of tapes from Craig, this is one of the first ones that made me do a serious double-take. I had no idea Witch Mountain had been around for so long. When I saw them at Starlite lounge in 2016, I thought they were a relatively new band. Wow. It looks like Rob took on the lead vocal duties in those early days.
