Man, this was such a special show. This is the first time that Lucy & Gwen have performed like this. Great selection of covers and amazing harmonies. My wife & kids were there, and my 4 year old was totally enthralled… and he doesn’t sit still for anything!

Lou came to town last November and played this little music/guitar shop in west sac. It was a really nice setting for an intimate acoustic show. Lou mentions that he was going to work up a 7 seconds cover for his Reno show- I wanted to mention that Kevin lives here now, but I had the mics on… so I stayed quiet. You’re welcome 🙂

Oh man, this was total chaos. I took my 2 year old to the event while my wife took my daughter to ballet. When I got there and saw the parking situation, I realized that I was going to have to carry him, my cameras and 2 tripods about 3 blocks to the event. Thank goodness I saw Jaz Brown right when my arms were failing. So then I talk my wife through the parking process. It was like trying to land the mars probe by remote control while a band was playing in the background and a 2 year old pulling shorts down, but it got done. RAD starts their set. My 6 year old has only seen Dog Party and my 2 year old has never seen a live band. They start dropping F-bombs and drug references at a family event and my wife glares at me.. I am like “I have no control over this”. Check out the perplexed look on the kids faces in FB comments. Classic. Anyway, this is supposed to be their last show and it was an awesome, extended 25 minute set. Thanks to Agelos for the edit.
As I dug out the CD’s for the Haints Shaker’s pub show, I noticed that this one was right next to it and had never been posted. This is a band that I was bummed to miss while they were around. I wasn’t going to many shows while they were active and never got to see them. Glad to finally get a full set on the sac music archive- the only other show of theirs is a short 10 min set during one of those old ironsides anniversary shows.

This might be the last Haints show ever. I checked concert archives, and the last show on there is the 3/17/07 show I posted on Sunday. It sounds great- anonymous did a nice job with these sets. Fun fact- Kepi announced this show at the Shaker’s show, but he said it was at Javalounge. It must have been moved for some reason. Kepi mentions Alyssa on drums for the first song, then Scampi (Nora) after 1 or 2 songs. Lys, did you make a Special Guest Star appearance?

Here’s Dan Janisch’s opening set from that “last Haints show ever” post from last week. I encourage all of my alt country/postcard friends to check Dan out- he has been making great music for over 20 years and remains somewhat unknown.
