The Strange Party- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 2/7/19 HD Master Live Canon HFG40 Rode VPS

it is always such a treat to see The Strange Party play. They only play a couple of times per year, so I try to head out to see them every time. When they open for the Undead, that’s a no-brainer to go. I wish more people thought like that- Press should have been packed last night.

The Strange Party- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento 11/17/18 Closing Night

Here’s the Strange Party’s set from last night. Well done and all of the songs that you would expect from them.
I moved to stay out of Jim’s way and I was worried that my audio would not turn out as well… and it sounded even better over there! So it all worked out. Cory has his back to me quite a bit, but it is otherwise OK.

Here is the last unposted video of The Strange Party that I have. Man, I sure hope they play again someday. They had not played for over a year, and then the pandemic hit. I miss the songs and the people. I also miss the old PA at the Cafe- it sounds decent when you are right up on that PA main.

The Strange Party- The Stag Bar, Woodland Ca. 5/12/17 Part 1 Canon HFG30 Rode VPS nic

After the captain 9’s set, I hit I-5 and got to the STrange Party show just in time. The Stag is such a unique venue. It does not have your usual rock crowd. Everyone in town shows up. This time around, I saw 2 bikers, an elderly woman (70+?), and a bunch of locals at the bar. Always a unique vibe at the stag. So I really wanted to catch Strange Party with Lys on drums, so I was glad this show was a late one. What a set. With the addition of the new bass player, Justin has switched to guitar which has taken the band to a whole new level.

The Strange Party- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 4/5/17 Part 1 Canon HFG30 Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic

This was Strange Party’s first show in about 6 months. They have added a new bass player and Justin has moved to guitar. Wow! This is the best set I have ever seen them play! They skipped my favorite song, but I will forgive them. Props to Andrew Scott for the stellar sound.

The Strange Party- The Stag, Woodland Ca. 10/28/16 Pt. 1

After the Drowning Adam show, I took off and headed to Woodland to see one of my favorite local bands, The Strange Party. I had never been to the stag and wow, what a place. It was “Dead Guy Ale” promotion night where you could get refills for $3 and people were extremely drunk. The place is about 100 feet long and 15 feet wide, so you got to know your neighbors well. Also had a fun discussion with Cory about the old metal days. I guess he now knows better than to start a conversation about that! Ha ha. Strange Party sounded great and they are going into the studio today to record a proper album at Earthtone. Did you hear that, Matt Bennett?

The Strange Party- Colonial Cafe, Sacramento Ca. 9/17/16 4 Camera Multicam

Man, this video is excellent. I have not been shy about my love for The Strange Party- I think they are the best small band in Sacramento right now. This video is a collaboration with me and Jim McLain. Jim supplied 2 of the camera angles, and I supplied 2 angles. Jim also brightened the gopro angle from behind the drummer, which really helps to improve these colonial videos. Audio is great, and I think that Strange Party as a 3 piece is better than the old version. No offense intended to Jordan (former bass player), but this lineup requires Justin (bass/vocals) to focus and he sounds WAY better. Thanks to Agelos for the killer edit job. This video has been on my hard drive for 2 days and every time I come back to post it, I end up watching it for 20min!
