This is not a video- this is an audio recording of this show. I have had these mics for about 5 years now (thanks Jason for giving me a good deal on them) and this is probably the best sounding show that I have recorded with them. Recorded about 20 feet back from the right PA stack. This is completely raw- I have not remixed or adjusted levels. You might want to bring your bass down in your EQ a bit. Some people who went to the show may enjoy this: Brian McKenna Jerry Perry Larry Boothroys Paul Piazza Dal Basi and I am sure I am missing many others.

As promised to Skid Jones, here is my angle of the Machado Thunderfinger set last month. Great show, and it was nice to see Skid in the background enjoying the show so much. You can also see my pal Wendy Powell ROCKING on the sidelines. I can’t remember the last time I saw so many people having so much fun at once. The person to fun ration was off the charts! Jim, I need to get my angle to you so you can edit them together.. if you want. Filmed with 1 Canon HFG30 camera & Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic. Thanks!

Another show, another run-in with Ace of Spades security crew. I got to the venue SUPER early, during soundcheck to secure permission. Drew & the band were cool about it and got the OK for me. I went to dinner then came back and set up my equipment, which includes a tripod at the far corner of the photo pit next to the stage. I have done this multiple times before. 5 minutes before the show, I have 3 cameras set up and running. Mr. yellow jacket comes over and here’s how the conversation goes: YJ: “Is that your camera up front on a tripod” Me: “Yes it is.” YJ: “You need to move it, it can’t be there” Me: “….(shocked pause) WHY? I have set up tripods there multiple times and it has worked out fine” YJ: “You camera is going to get destroyed. it will get knocked over” Me: “I assume full responsibility for the camera” YJ: ….. (pause) “You need to move the camera” So, instead of 3 camera, this is 2 camera. I tried to be extra diligent with the camera work to make up for it. Thanks to Agelos for the killer edit(he likes this band a lot). Taped with 1 HFG10, 1 HFG30, and audio is from Rode Video Pro microphone. Thanks to the band for permission, and thanks to the guy on the upper level for watching the second camera!

This show was insane. The Colony is tiny, has no stage and virtually no lighting. They(obviously) sold the place out for this show- I was smashed on the side of the “stage”(carpet) holding my monopod. Thanks to the guy who kept me from falling over when the crowd was pushed a few times. Thanks to Agelos for the authoring work- he added the good audio to the side stage camera.

This one is being posted for Ian Smith. I think you were the guy who helped me stay upright when we were being crushed. Thanks for not allowing me (and the camera)to hit the floor! Here’s Strife’s set from that night. I said it before- The Colony is a tough room to film or even see a band.

What can I say. The Colony is a notoriously difficult place to see, or film, a band. They have no stage, the lighting is low, and the only place where you can stand to film has you shooting directly into one of the only stage lights they have. I set up a second camera in the back of the venue, but you just can’t see the band because of all the people so this is one camera only. Thanks to Agelos for putting my Rode Video Pro Stereo mic audio onto the side stage video so at least it sounds good. Enjoy!
