Victims Family- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca 5/24/89 Enhanced w/ Sony ECM 909 audio

Since Tim Soylan asked for it, here is an enhanced, complete version of Victims Family at Cotati Cabaret. I had hoped to synch my friend’s superior Sony D6 audio recording to this, but pluraleyes can’t read the stage audio well enough to match it up. That app drives me crazy sometimes. I will try to get my synch friend to do this one when he gets time. Anyway, you were right Tim- I see you playing during backward/forward at the 42 min mark.

Short Dogs Grow- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca. 5/24/89 xfer from master tapes enhanced w/ Sony D6 Audio

Here’s one that I have been wanting to get done for a long time and it looks like I never posted it in any form before. I was able to enhanced it quite a bit- the venue forgot to turn up the lights on the band until about 10min in, so it will look a little grainy up until then, and then it looks really nice for a 1989 video.
I also took my friend “Anonymous”‘ Sony D6 audience recording and digitized/remixed it a bit for King Bean to Synch as the audio track. So, finally, the definitive version to post.

Victims Family- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca. 5/24/89 Enhanced with NEW Sony D6 Audio Source

I know this is the 3rd time posting this show, but this is definitely the best (and last) version. My good friend Anonymous was audiotaping with his Sony D6 from a good spot in the room, which is way better than my stage camera audio, which only has a little vocal (just monitor volume).
Thanks to King Bean for the synch.
This is a cool, rare show with Eric Strand on drums, plus VF drummer-to-be Tim Soylan playing on at least 1 song.

Dr. Drew the Electric Man- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca. 5/24/89 xfer from 8mm master tape

I am doing a project for a gilman webcast, so I digitized an old gilman show from 1989. At the end of that tape, I discovered this long forgotten gem. If anyone from Victims Family or Short Dogs Grow (who played that night) knows this guy, please let him know!
btw, I forgot to turn my microphone on for the first 3min of the 5min video. I just repeated the audio so he wasn’t dancing to silence. I think it worked pretty well.

Operation Ivy- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca 11/9/88 xfer from 1st gen Soundboard cassette rebalanced

Op Ivy played cotati cabaret a couple times in late 1988- this is a copy from Radley’s master board tape. The very beginning (about a minute) is all drums- be sure to skip a couple minutes in to hear how the show really sounds!

The Feelies- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca 11/6/88 xfer from master Audio Casette

I wasn’t planning on posting audio today (I have a glut of video again), but Jeff Arellano was talking about how stupid song fadeouts are, and I had to post the one time I saw a band fade out a song live. It takes place at about 7min, and you hear me freak out about it. You also hear me slurp my drink. At 37? min, I bag on the band for being so lethargic on stage. I have no idea why I was so salty that night, I usually take taping seriously but obviously not this time. It might have been due to their anti-video stance. Maybe it was due to the seated show with a 2 drink minimum. Dunno.

Stubbs McGinty asked for this one. Here is MCM & the Monster’s set from the Beatnigs/Bomb bill. I didn’t have enough tape or battery for Bomb and I am kicking myself for not taping them now. This is probably my best MCM video. Lighting was great at the cabaret.

Operation Ivy- Cotati Cabaret, Cotati Ca 8/30/88 xfer from 1st gen Soundboard cassette remixed

Here’s another one that Radley dubbed on cassette for us back in the 80s. The mix on this one was lacking bass, guitar and drums so I did some work in Izotope on it. The first 4min has the snare WAY too loud, then it drops out of the mix. So stick with it- good show.
