Time for more obscure bands- there is next to no info about Poontwang online. It looks like Fast Mike (SF Scene in the mid-90s) was a male go-go dancer for the band, and the band was active in the mid-90s. 4 songs on comps according to discogs. That’s about it. If anyone has more info, please chime in.

Thanks to the video of Tom Zappas, this live in studio broadcast, long in the hands of collectors of the band, now has video to go along with it.
Audio recorded from the FM broadcast. Date circa October 1999. Features two songs performed live, along with audio from a performance at Old Ironsides.
Today’s On This Date in History was an interesting project. The board mix on this one moves around a bunch which usually means that a rebalance in Izotope won’t work well, but it turned out alright. The drums are very up front during the first song and then they dropped out of the mix at about the 6 min mark, so I pushed it as much as I could without destroying the mix. Same with the guitars- I pushed it to where they almost drown out Leonard at the high points but are still audible (but back in the mix) at the low point.
I also have some suspicions about the origin. This was traded to me as a DAT clone and there is no tape hiss, so I think that’s true.. but there is a cut at 41 minutes that would make sense for a cassette tape flip. I have lined into the output of a tape deck with my DAT and had the same thing happen, so I am going with DAT, as advertised.
Fun show. Leonard doesn’t seem too excited about the clientele at the show, calling someone a fat f*ck at some point(s).

Equipment Used: cheap tape recorder.

A couple years ago, I was trolling Ebay back when I had more spare time and found this demo motherlode of Dallas bands and they were really cheap. There were 2 Nocturne demos in there- I recently sold this one on Ebay to a cool guy named Ryan who helped me ID song titles for the second one (coming soon!).
The band released a couple things locally and then were picked up by Triple X records who released a couple albums by the band

It looks like a 3 post day today, so let’s get started. Over the past couple years, I have posted audiotapes from Robert Eggplant’s collection kind of randomly. Whatever I could pick out of the list that looked good, I went with it. That has become unmanageable so it’s time to do the time-consuming, “A-Z” method of checking every one of these damned things.
Here is one that I digitized a little over 2 years ago. Another short set from Geekfest 3- this time from Anal Mucus.

You get 1 quick one from me this morning and 2 this evening. Ken Doose and Stephen Doty (R.I.P.) filmed this one and I don’t think Ken ever posted this anywhere. Rain are pretty well known now and playing the PACs around the country, but they have been around a LONG time and I remember seeing them play a tiny bar in a casino during a corporate outing in the 90s. They have come a long way.
This is the entire 90+ minute set. Bonus appearance by Ken’s mom (R.I.P.) at the end.

This one was stuck in my drafts for a couple years. Glad I found it!
I think this is one of the last IGD videos from Mike Parisi’s stuff, if not the last one. Thanks to Mike and the band for documenting so much of this era. There are only 2 videos of the 1980s IGD era- mine from Danceteria and the cable TV appearance. Good to see Jimmie in all of these.
There was no date on this one, but given the bands activity and the years that Bojangles reopened for concerts, this is probably 1998 or 1999.

Here’s the collections post for today, from Robert Eggplant’s collection. The Burnt Toast one from this morning was a bonus post to pay tribute so you get 3 posts today.
I didn’t have much time to look online for details about this band, but it looks like Matty Luv (Fuckboyz & Hickey) was in the band.
I am not sure where Eggplant got this one, but it looks a few copies deep on the gen loss scale. It’s an 18+ thing so keep that in mind.
