Spitboy- 924 Gilman, Berkeley 7/28/95 xfer from 1st gen soundboard cassette Hardcore Punk

It’s Monday- time for another one from Robert Eggplant’s collection. Since that 90 second clip of Spitboy got over 100 views in a hurry last week, I figured I will follow it up with a full set.
The mix on this one starts out with no snare, but snare emerges as the set goes on. If you hate the starting mix, go about halfway through the set and you’ll probably be happy.

Spitboy- Fireside Bowl, Chicago Il. 4/14/94 xfer from 1st gen VHS tape live East Bay Punk

I know it is a little early for the daily post, but I did not sleep much due to election anxiety. I was looking through the rest of the “Turn it Around Project” videos for the most appropriate video to post today (election day), and I think I found it. Here is a killer video of Spitboy at fireside bowl. Man, I love it when a video captures the essence of the show, and this one does so in a big way.

Spitboy- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 11/13/93 xfer from master soundboard cassette rebalanced

Since I screwed up the Fanny post today (the corrected version will be posted tomorrow), here is a nice consolation prize- Spitboy from Gilman, from Radley’s awesome trove of soundboard master tapes. Radley always comes through in a pinch. The mix moves around a bit, but I rebalanced it to a point where I think it sounds pretty nice.

Spitboy- Vort’n Vis, Ypres Ieper, Belgium 5/1/93 xfer f/audio cassette Hardcore Punk

Today’s Audio collections post comes from Jason Ross’ tapes. He has a ton of punk recordings from the 1990’s, which is an era that is lacking in my collection.
This tape had some hum and hiss so it was Izotope to the rescue once again. There is still a little noise, but it is way better than it was. It’s a quality recording- sounds like a pro walkman job.

Alright, it has been yet another rough work day, so another late post. I’ll post something very short so you can still check it out today without missing your bedtime.
Btw, speaking of rough work day, I have an idea for a proposal for you all that will allow me to digitize and post these 10,000-plus tapes much faster. Stay tuned.
Here is a snippet of a Spitboy show that was so short, but the mix was so good that I couldn’t not post it. If you have not read Michelle Cruz Gonzalez’ book “the spitboy rule”, it’s worth a read. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
