The Clash- Performed by Bastards of Young & Setting Sons, Cafe Colonial, Sac 10/26/19 4K UHD

The last band of the night were the brothers Hills from Bastards of Young, Jeremy Nied from Setting Sons, and I can’t ID the drummer(sorry) playing The Clash.
I am surprised the video came out as well as it did- I had to stand in the middle of the room instead of using a wall to stabilize the camera. I guess being on a diet and not drinking too much has its advantages!

Now that we received the Shelter in Place directive today, let’s look back at happier times when we could go out to a club and watch our friends ROCK. Here’s a video from the Press Club from a killer show which included Civil War Rust and a rare appearance from Build Us Airplanes.
This is another “single camera angle from a multicam” series.

Hey, here’s another newly edited video! Bastards of Young played Press club a couple years back, and I put up 3 cameras to capture the set. Sounds good, looks good. One of the G40’s auto exposure went a bit crazy for one of the angles, but still decent.

Bastards of young were second on the bill at Sad Girlz Club’s CD release show. This set was the BEST that I have ever heard the colony sound. In between songs, I almost yelled out “nice mix AJ” but I thought that would sound ridiculous.
This is a typical 30 minute set from B.O.Y., but just as tight if not tighter than usual. I realized that I have video recorded them a LOT over the past few years.

This was impressive. One of the main guys in the band- Nick Ripley(Guitar/vocals) was very sick and unable to perform (the viruses are really going around in Sac right now)… so they went ahead and performed as a 3 piece, with Pat on vocals for all the songs. I guess you can call this “Patstards of Young” ha ha, err.
You can tell that everyone really stepped it up to cover for Nick’s absence. Well done!

Bastards of Young are going to Fest in Florida this year! They had a benefit show last Thursday to help with travel. They may need to have another bake sale or 2 for plane tickets, because not enough people showed up to the show. 🙂 I thought they’d pack the place, given that they are well-liked around town AND their members give back to the music community so generously (I’m talking to you, Patrick and Sean). If you want to help support them, grab some merch off of their bandcamp site- I’ll post it in the comments.

Bastards of Young headlined the Shell Corp show and they sounded great. I had not seen them in about 6 months (10 anniversary show), so it was a real treat seeing them again. They sometimes play so loud that they overpower the PA in the club, and Old I’s PA is not big! Kudos to the band and the soundman- sounded good in there.
