The Freeze- Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor, Reno Nv. 5/1/16 Multicam Boston Punk Hardcore

Boston legends The Freeze ended thri first US tour ever (together almost 40 years, first national tour) in Reno. Since they did not make a stop in Sac or SF, I drove up to Reno. I was able to talk to Clif before the show and that is always a pleasure- he has SO many stories. Anyway, this was an interesting night. Jub Jub’s smaller room (they have 2) has brick walls and a ceiling that is about 30 feet high, which is a live audio recording nightmare. I ask the sound guy for soundboard access, and he points to a little blue light about 15 feet above the bar. “see that? that’s the board. can’t get up there”. So, sorry to say that the audio is pretty bad. You can’t hear vocals for the first part of the show. It’s too bad, because it is a great show and all angles turned out nice. I hope you can enjoy regardless. It sounded just like it did that night… Filmed with 2 Canon HFG30 & 1 HFG10. Audio via rode video pro stereo mic. Thanks to Agelos for the excellent edit work!

If you are wondering why I continue to post shows on the day (or days) after the anniversary, it is because cool people like Brian McKenna and Lee Osh keep posting flyers of the show on the anniversary date. That prompts me to pull the show out and get it up there, before the flyer image gets lost in the chaos that is my computer file system. Side note- if anyone has a flyer image for the Blackwater Cafe show in Stockton, let me know. Maybe Middagh has one. I need to post that show too.
I have been a big fan of The Freeze since the mid-80s. This tour in 2009 was the first time I had ever seen them perform. This show was entertaining because I was one of the only older people there and my wife looked totally out of place at the show as well. While The Freeze were playing, a guy with a mohawk and leather jacket came up to us, and started doing this ridiculous dance 6 inches away from us, back to the band facing us, arms flailing. I think it was a guy from the Snotcocks. I stood there quietly bemused since I was recording the show. I still smell his B.O. when I recall that memory… so thanks?

The Freeze- Blackwater Cafe, Stockton Ca. 4/5/09 Digital Master Live Audio only Punk Hardcore Boston

I think that this was the first audio recording that I had made since I got out of DAT taping a few years prior. One of my all-time favorite bands The Freeze were touring so I went to see them twice. I borrowed my good friend Anonymous’ gear and headed down to a tiny cafe in Stockton (that as you can see from the picture, is now gone).
The place was tiny, but there was a good crowd for the show. It sounded pretty good in the “club”(coffeeshop)- better than the Javalounge show the next week.

The Freeze- Blue Lagoon, Santa Cruz Ca 6/29/07 xfer f/Master DV tape Boston Hardcore Punk

This is the last one from the first round of Guerin tapes that I digitized. That DSR1800 outputs audio super hot, but thanks to digitalfaq and friends like Nicholas Serra, I now know how to adjust audio input with that registry hack. So I will re-do all of them without brickwalled audio. I think that this one has at least 1 more angle to edit as well. Lots of work left to do…

The Freeze are one of my favorite bands, so I was super stoked to see them in Guerin’s tapes. There is no info on location or date, but it is likely around santa cruz in the 90’s/early 00’s. Hopefully Guerin can fill us in.

The Freeze- Zwischenfall, Bochum Germany 10/23/91 complete show Boston Hardcore Punk

I love The Freeze. It makes me happy that they are active again and Bill is playing in the band again- can’t wait until they finally make it up our way. Most of the shows have been in AZ or southern Cal. So that’s why I decided to post this questionable quality video today. I have no idea who filmed it or what the lineage is- I pulled it off punktorrents, back when I had time for that kind of nonsense.
