Bastards of Young- Old Ironsides, Sacramento Ca. 3/31/18 Canon HFG40

Bastards of Young headlined the Shell Corp show and they sounded great. I had not seen them in about 6 months (10 anniversary show), so it was a real treat seeing them again. They sometimes play so loud that they overpower the PA in the club, and Old I’s PA is not big! Kudos to the band and the soundman- sounded good in there.

The Shell Corporation- Old Ironsides, Sacramento 3/31/18 Canon HFG40

Last Saturday was quite the day. Jim & I went on a microbrew crawl with Jason Ellis and Katie Ellis, and then we headed downtown on the light rail for the show. We got to the venue at about 9:30, which is when Old I usually starts their shows.. and they were already halfway through the 3rd band! the 3rd band- The Shell Corporation- was the band I came to see primarily. Dammit. Oh well. Side note- this is the drunkest I have ever been while videotaping a show. So if I do something stupid, you’ll know why.

CHRCH- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 3/30/18 Canon HFG40 Rode VPS Mic

CHRCH has a new album coming out this spring and they debuted some songs at the Blue Lamp last weekend. They sounded great. Eva’s voice was a bit more prominent in the mix and I like it! My friend Jim Utz flew from St. Louis to see this show- it was a great time. I screwed up and forgot my monopod, so the video is a bit shaky and not level. The Canon G40 is a heavy camera- I did my best.

T.S.O.L.- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 3/24/18 Multicam with SBD/AUD Matrix Audio TSOL 1st 2 records

I don’t know why, but I had in my mind that this show was not as good as the Gilman show the night before. This performance is excellent, and the banter is just as great! I think that I missed some of Jack’s quips the first time around. I actually watched/listened to this all the way through, which is unusual- I usually skim it since I am busy working.
For most of us who only watch a couple of minutes of stuff, I highly recommend watching this all the way through.
I can’t remember who was doing sound, but AJ or Chris, holy shit! This is the best sounding Blue Lamp soundboard I have heard so far. Thank you for the killer mix.
Jack gets in the way of one of the camera angles during “die for me”, then realizes it and clowns around with the camera. Keep an eye out for it- it is funny!
