Collections post, from the newly acquired Scott Davey collection. He ran Iguana Studios and was in a number of 1970s punk/new wave bands, including Red Asphalt. He has a ton of recordings I have never seen before which might be master tapes.

This one is kind of a mystery. The tape says “Sun Ra KPFA New Wave Show 9/23/77”, and it is definielty Sun Ra.. but there are no station ID’s or radio announcers. Just 47 min of free jazz that cuts in and out. Shazam can’t ID any of this and neither can the copyright algorithm, which is so good that it can identify melodies from songs.

If any of my friends who are avid Sun Ra collectors can help me ID this or confirm that it is a newly discovered Sun Ra 1977 recording, I would appreciate it.
