Last Show. Huge thanks to Jay Spooner Photography for use of the photos! If you’ve never heard the band live before, be prepared to hear some things that may offend you, some things that will make you laugh out loud and some things that will make you jump up and yell “Rock and Roll!!”

The Bands that Stole X-Mas Out of Print CD: Christmas songs from local bands 1998
So the kids were demanding Christmas music in the car yesterday, so I put this on and made it about halfway through the second song before a bleeped out F word happened and I had to change it… but it made me wonder if this was on youtube yet. I am tagging all of the band members who I am friends with- feel free to tag others.

Magnolia Thunderfinger- Old Ironsides, Sacramento Ca. 5/22/98 xfer from low gen VHS tape
Here’s another incomplete Magnolia Thunderfinger show from that VHS tape I got a while back. This one features the band decked out in suits & ties. Probably the most consistently lit of the 3.
Recorded by: “I’m pretty sure some dude named Willie filmed this. He followed us around for a few years…filmed a ton of gigs…then just disappeared.”… well Skid, you obviously did something to piss poor Willie off. 🙂
Magnolia Thunderfinger- Old Ironsides, Sacramento Ca. 3/20/98 xfer from low gen VHS tape
Here is the 2nd of 4 shows on that VHS tape I got from Phono Select. This one is super dark, except Skid is lit well.
Recorded by (from Skid):
“I’m pretty sure some dude named Willie filmed this. He followed us around for a few years…filmed a ton of gigs…then just disappeared.”
Magnolia Thunderfinger- The Nevada Club, Grass Valley Ca. 1998? xfer from low gen VHS tape
Here’s the final incomplete Magnolia Thunderfinger show from that VHS tape I got a while back. This one is from a venue I had not hear of before- Nevada Club in Grass Valley. It took me some time to research where this place was!
Recorded by: “I’m pretty sure some dude named Willie filmed this. He followed us around for a few years…filmed a ton of gigs…then just disappeared.” There is a phone number written on the inside of the tape case. I just called it. Nope. Disconnected
Magnolia Thunderfinger- Old Ironsides, Sacramento Ca 12/31/97 xfer from low gen VHS
So I found this video for sale in one of our local COOL record shops. I checked with Jim McLain and was surprised to hear that it appears to be uncirculated! What a find!
The camera performs some extreme light adjustment when shotting skid (and the Old I lighted sign) and other members away from the light. It’s cool once you get used to it.
