Melvins- El Dorado Saloon, Carmichael Ca 7/16/97 xfer from DAT Soundboard Master

Here’s another one that I taped for today’s On This Date in History… but I don’t remember a thing about taping the show. Melvins opened for Helmet and I never recall going to a Helmet show in the 90s, and I liked the band so I would definitely remember if I did. I was very busy with the kids at the time, so I might have sent someone (my stepson/a taping friend in town) to tape it for me. Man, bizarre.
It’s funny because I rated this as EX on my list and made a comment about how great the recording is… and er not so much. The recording was in the right channel only and there was almost no bass in the mix. I was able to fix it up quite a bit with Izotope, so it sounds pretty good now.
Thanks to Brian McKenna for digging out the flyer for this show this morning.
