Miki Berenyi- Great American Music Hall, San Francisco Ca 10/27/25 4K UHD w/Schoeps Audio Lush Indie

Let’s do the Patreon Voter’s Choice first today! I just remembered that I haven’t started the ballot for this week- yikes! Get in on it ASAP if you want to vote on something cool this week. This week’s theme- Off List Audio.

Miki Berenyi came to SF last week for the last time and played a bunch from her MB3 releases and SIX lush “covers”! I was able to make my schoeps recording sound decent- it was very bassy and muddy. I EQ’d out some of the lows, boosted the mids, and then ran it through Izotope to bring up vocals as much as possible without it sounding bad.

There are quite a few people in the way of the shot, especially later in the show. I knew that GAMH were sticklers about monopods on the floor, so I brought this little selfie stick and popped it in my shirt pocket. I needed some support since the left hand isn’t all the way healed yet. It wasn’t as high as my usual monopod and it kinda worked… and then some tall dudes get in the way toward the end of the set and I didn’t want to move and ruin the audio sweet spot. So there ya go. This is what happens when you compromise audio and video. It’s not terrible.

Thanks to my friend (and Sac Muisc Archive board member) Jim Utz for the help with the camera pass. This probably wouldn’t exist without him!

Bruce Dickinson- Aftershock Fest, Discovery Park Sacramento Ca 10/3/25 4K UHD Master w/Schoeps Audio

Here’s video #2 for the day, and it is the Patreon Voter’s Choice! Thanks voters- new ballots get sent late tomorrow and it’s only $10/mo to play. New polls every week! I am so backlogged that I think I will put up about 10 recently filmed shows and let you pick.

Alright, I need to warn you about this one. My good friend Jeff was giving me those Shaq Beatbox punches since they were FREE and I got pretty hammered.

The good news is that I found a pole in the edge of the VIP section that face the shockwave stage, so I popped it up there and that kept is steady. The bad news is that there was an “influencer” who kept sticking her camera right in front of mine. It isn’t too obvious for most of the show, but it irritated the hell out of me.

The schoeps audio sounds better than I expected since I was so far away from the stage and off to the side. So far off in fact, that the audio and video is out of synch a bit. I was so far away that the sound had to travel to me. LOL Big shows.

Nice keytar btw

Alkaline Trio- Aftershock Fest, Discovery Park, Sacramento 10/2/25 4K UHD Complete w/Schoeps Audio

It’s our weekly Patreon Voter’s Choice selection! All of our $10 per month and up patrons get to vote on a weekly post. This past week’s theme was Aftershock Day 1. Alkaline Trio ran away with the vote this week. I want to thank my patrons for their support and for not presenting me with yet another tie. If you want to get in on the action, I will share a link to the patreon in comments. I think you can figure out what this coming week’s vote will be!

OK, about the video. I had planned to get to the fest early on Thursday but it was raining and my cast (and mics on my head) do not do well with water. So I had to wait for that to stop and then I headed over. I missed the Ataris, Snot and Thrown. Dammit.

This was my first attempt at filming the main stage and just like past years, the VIP section sounded like ass. That’s why you see me pull up stakes and move to GA. Sorry for the shakiness of the video, I was getting used to filming from a distance with the cast on. It settles down after about 10min.
