Circle Jerks- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca. 2/26/22 4K UHD Complete Show

I was supposed to see SEVEN CJ/7 seconds shows in the March/April time frame, and I ended seeing none. I had plans to see the first 5 shows and had to cancel due to work and home stuff. I had also booked a family vacation back east which coincided with Philadelphia/NYC and WDC. We went on vacation but the shows were cancelled. Then, I booked a run of 4 texas dates to make up for it, and those were also postponed. Let’s hope my last attempt to make this happen comes to fruition in Texas in early September. I am not going to tell you now much money I blew out of my rear end to see a band. Embarrassing.
Anyway, here is the CJ set from Ace of Spades earlier in the tour, when 7 seconds wasn’t touring with them yet. Enjoy.

It took a while for this one to get prepped- the audio on my master tape was super thin, so I had to wait for better audio. The audio has some slight issues in one channel on and off, but it is still WAY better than the audio from my little point and shoot.

I have to admit, I was not as into this set as I expected. I am a huge Adolescents fan, and I have driven to the bay are multiple times to see them… but this set left me cold. Maybe it was due to me being on the back balcony, I was not close. This was also the first time I have seen them without Steve Soto, so that could be it. Dunno. Hope you like it.

Negative Approach- Ace of Spades, Sacramento 2/26/22 4k UHD Master Complete Show

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you moms out there- enjoy the day!
It took a while for this one to get prepped- the audio on my master tape was super thin, so I had to wait for better audio. The audio has some slight issues in one channel on and off, but it is still WAY better than the audio from my little point and shoot. It looks like the audio taper missed the first song of the set- I can share that with the camera audio, if anyone is dying to see it.
By the way, Negative Approach is coming to the tiny Cafe Colonial this summer with locals Holehog and Sick Burn- a great lineup. You should buy advance tickets to that one if you want to see it- I can’t imagine tickets being available for long.
Oh, one last thing. The guitar player played the entire set with his back to the crowd, just like in the thumbnail. Strange

Connoisseur- The Colony, Sacramento Ca 2/19/22 4k UHD Live full set Weed Hardcore

After fighting with this damned Dinosaur Jr. video for days, you get last night’s show from the Colony instead. Connoisseur came out from Oakland for the first time since the before times, and they played a long (for them) set. They write some catchy stuff. They have a new split EP with Chris Dodge’s Trappist- I picked up the vinyl at the show.
What a night- I was hanging outside, talking with my friend Dan from Conno. Over the course of about 10 minutes, we saw one guy come flying out of the club, lay on the sidewalk, and spit blood everywhere. That must have been a vicious elbow/fist to the nose. Then, a few minutes later, a huge mass of bodies comes rolling out of the club, punching each other. Damn, rough night.

Dinosaur Jr.- Ace of Spades, Sacramento Ca 2/15/22 Live 4K UHD Complete Show with Schoeps Audio

What a treat this show was, but for an unfortunate reason. Lou was sick, so Kevin Sweeney from J Mascis + The Fog was flown in for the show. Because of this, we got a set that was totally different than most of the tour and very heavy on the old stuff. Glad to hear that it was a mild case and Lou is OK.
Man, this one was needlessly difficult to prepare. Pluraleyes didn’t like part 2 of the video and would not synch it. It synched the other 6 parts just fine…. so I did pt2 manually in Sony Vegas. Then, even though my export was the same file type, avidemux would not join it properly. I tried 5 times and it would have no audio for pt2, then it would crash, etc. I learned a lot about avidemux- like don’t ever even attempt to join even the slightest different file type. I finally just put the whole damned thing in vegas and exported it. So if it looks different than other Lumix ZS200 videos I did, that’s why. Geez.
Also, I realized that I forgot to turn on image stabilization during the last song. Whoops.

Radolescents- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 2/7/22 4k UHD Multicam with Schoeps audio Adolescents Rikk

The Radolescents came to Sac as part of their Winter Blunderland tour earlier this month and it was a blast. I got to hang outside (merch sales are outside on the sidewalk) and talk to Casey, John, Frank Jr. and Dan for a bit. I got to hear some mid-90s D.I. stories. They were selling some Adolescents demos and a soundboard CD of their 3/22/91 show that Todd Nakamine shot, and a DVD of some old stuff from Rikk’s collection. Fun night!
