D Generation- Doug Fir Lounge, Portland Or. 8/30/16 1080p master w/Rode audio RIP Howie Pyro

So I went to play this video on the sac music archive yesterday(I posted it in 2016) and I realized that I posted the file with 90 seconds of no music from before the concert, rather than the concert itself. So here it is for the first time, I guess.
I have so many friends who knew Howie and the tributes have been amazing- what a life. I regret not meeting him.
Here is the original note from the 2016 listing:

I have been getting lucky lately on my business trips to Portland. Last time I was up, Venom Inc happened to be playing and this time D Generation was playing Doug Fir Lounge. I know some of their material, but not all of it.. they were AMAZING. They are one of those bands who has such mastery of the songs that they just melt your face with a nonstop wall of energy for an hour-plus. REALLY great. The only downside of the video is there is a slight vibration that I did not notice while filming & looking at the small camera screen. I should have known, as the steps I was standing on were hollow. Dammit. Filmed with Canon HFG30 and Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic.

Mad Judy- Colonial Fest, The Colony Sacramento Ca. 8/27/16 Canon HFG30 & Rode

The band finally gave the OK to post this one. I think they were afraid that the awesome “don’t fear the reaper” cover may break the internet. Seriously, the last 2 Mad Judy shows were not complete- this one was missing Audrey (Jeff Hollandsworth did a nice job filling in though) and the one last night was missing Jordan. Still a fun show.

Sacto Storytellers- Colonial Cafe, Sacramento Ca. 8/27/16 Part 1 Canon HFG30 & Rode

Here are the great Sacto Storytellers from day 1 of the Colonial Fest. Day 2 is going on RIGHT NOW- tons of bands for the low price of $10 all day today. Please come on out and support the venue and the bands. PBR is only $3 on tap, all day everyday. Compare that to $6 at GAMH when I saw Belly on Friday…. Sacto Storytellers is Kenny Beasley & co’s Rocksteady band. They are excellent! Kenny is also in hardcore band Pressure Point & was the Guitar/vocalist in Sins of the Flesh back in the 80s. Enjoy.

Live Concert Video

Belly- Great American Music Hall, San Francisco Ca. 8/26/16 Canon HFG30 and Rode Video Pro Mic

This was a show I was looking forward to. I bought tickets 6 months ago and it has been sold out for a while. Out of all the 90s alternative bands, I saw EVERYONE (Nirvana 3x, Dino Jr 3x, Buffalo tom 3x, Meat Puppets 10x, Teenage Fanclub, etc etc etc) except Belly, and they were one of my favorites. We got tot he club and it said “no flash photography” so I walked in with my G30 and set up. I was quickly accosted by security, and they told me I could film but I could not have the monopod on the floor. I handheld it for a bit (you’ll see) but then got the great idea to put the monopod base in my pocket. It worked like a charm and I filmed that way up until the encores, when security man came by and said no monopod AT ALL. So, the encores suck. Sorry. It turned out pretty nice- audio & focus gets better about 20min into the show when I take it off auto. PS: dot-com snobs with their glasses of wine don’t like punk videographers. FYI.
