7 Seconds- The Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca. 3/8/15 Partial Audio Digital Soundboard

I think this was the second to last time I got to see 7 seconds. This was a total spur of the moment decision- I hadn’t planned on going, but I got the OK to record from Kevin so I did the 3+ hour drive on a work night. I’m glad I did it in retrospect, I really miss the band.
This soundboard was recorded by Guerin Myall and this is all that exists. There was a problem and the recording stops 11 minutes in.

7 Seconds- The Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca. 3/8/15 Multicamera Live Video

When I posted 11 minutes of the soundboard audio from this show the other day, I realized that I never posted the multicam video we did. It is ok, some of the angles had issues (over exposure, halo effect) which is probably why I held it back. It was a great performance and the crowd was really into it. I never understood why Sacramento crowds did not appreciate them as much as out of town crowds.

Equipment used: Probably Canon HFG10 x2, HFM30, and Guerin’s cameras.

Ignite- Catalyst, Santa Cruz 2/10/07 xfer from master DV tape Orange County Hardcore

I drove to SF about a month ago to pick up another collection of master tapes. I met Guerin Myall at a 7 Seconds show I decided to film at the last minute- he was there as well and we shared footage for the multicam. He told me he had a lot of tapes to transfer, but we were both busy and never had a chance to meet up again. Guerin had (and has) top notch equipment, so a lot of these videos are really nice quality.
I also found another box of tapes that Eric Mcintire gave me from Dave Ed’s collection, so I will start posting some of those, too. That brings the total to 22(!) tape collections over here that I will be sharing…
Thanks to Guerin for trusting me with the collection. First one is Ignite, opening for Circle Jerks and Pennywise at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz in 2007.

Circle Jerks- Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca 2/10/07 xfer f/DV Master Tape Enhanced

These Guerin Myall tapes are such nice quality. I am pretty close to restarting the video transfers. The card arrived, I installed it and then realized that I never tested the old adapter in the new system. Doing that first as soon as I get a minute. Fighting with the new system to get the right codecs installed. Ugh.
I think this is 1 angle of at least 2 from this show. The goal is to get all of Guerin’s stuff done and then figure out what can be multicam edited… ASAP.

D.I.- Catalyst, Santa Cruz 9/5/04 transfer from Hi8 master tape Complete Show Casey Royer Punk DxIx

This one is from Guerin Myall’s collection. Most of his masters are in DV format but he has a stack of Hi8 masters and there is a lot of really cool stuff in here. There is some tape damage so please bear with the glitches.
This one is just marked “DI/TSOL 9/5/04”. Thanks to the list, I was able to confirm that this is from the Catalyst. Thanks Steve!

T.S.O.L. – Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca 9/5/04 Transfer from Hi8 Master Tape True Sounds of Liberty TSOL

Man, do I appreciate Guerin for filming this show. I was not filming concerts in 2004 so I totally missed this tour with not one, but TWO of my favorite bands. Audio is a bit distorted on this one- this footage looks and sounds a lot like one of my old Sony TR-81 camera recordings. Loved that camera.

No Use for a Name- Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca 2003? Xfer f/master DV tape Punk Fat Wreck Chords

Today’s Video collections post comes from Guerin Myall’s collection of awesome masters.

This appears to be filmed at the same time as a Faction show that had “03” written on the tape, so I am assuming it is from 2003. I tried to find any listing from the Catalyst for both bands together and no luck. I’ll ask Guerin if he recalls the date.

This appears to be one angle of a multicam shoot. This is Guerin’s angle.

Stench- Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca 9/30/02 maybe transfer f/master DV tape

I figured that I would post a video from Guerin Myall’s collection, of Guerin’s band. Stench was active from the mid 90s until around 2002. They are now back and playing shows again. Not only that, but Guerin has a few more surprises in store this coming fall! I am working as fast as I can to support (hint hint).

This is the only listing I can find of Stench playing the Catalyst back then. Guerin, please correct me if this is wrong.

NOFX- Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca 2/28/01 xfer from DV Master- On Stage

Since I just had a quick meetup and tape exchange with Guerin, let’s do one from his collection today. Man, this one is great. NOFX fans are going to love it. On stage with pretty good audio- that pretty much never happens.

I don’t know why the thumbnail is so dark- the show is well lit, looks great.

R.K.L.- Vets Hall, Santa Cruz Ca 11/30/01 transfer f/master DV tape Bright Version Rich Kids on LSD

Guerin needs his tapes back so I have been plowing through them and digitizing them for him at the highest speed I am capable of. A lot of them are gummed up and unplayable. DV was seriously the worst format ever. Ugh.

Here is one that was extremely dark but I was able to play with virtualdub settings and blast up the brightness at capture, so you can actually see the band! I think there are multiple angles of this show.

UPDATE: Given the lineup and setlist, this is the 2000’s lineup. I can’t find any documentation (flyers, newspaper articles) of the band playing there.
