Lou Barlow- Stone Vintage Music Boutique, West Sacramento Ca. 11/29/18 Audio DPA mics

Lou came to town last November and played this little music/guitar shop in west sac. It was a really nice setting for an intimate acoustic show. Lou mentions that he was going to work up a 7 seconds cover for his Reno show- I wanted to mention that Kevin lives here now, but I had the mics on… so I stayed quiet. You’re welcome 🙂

The O’Mulligans- The Colony, Sacramento 11/17/18 Closing Show

I don’t know if there is another band who played the Colony/Colonial Cafe more than The O’Mulligans. They printed up a nice 11×17 poster with thumbnails of a lot of the posters of the shows they played (over 20). It was a nice tribute.
They did my favorite song- Deejay and they did a Green Day cover. You’ll need to watch to see which one it is.

The Strange Party- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento 11/17/18 Closing Night

Here’s the Strange Party’s set from last night. Well done and all of the songs that you would expect from them.
I moved to stay out of Jim’s way and I was worried that my audio would not turn out as well… and it sounded even better over there! So it all worked out. Cory has his back to me quite a bit, but it is otherwise OK.

Sad Girlz Club- North Pole House, Davis Ca. 11/17/18 Canon HFG40 Rode

After spending part of the night at the Colonial Complex closing concert, I headed over to Davis to see Sad Girlz Club & Anime Aliens play. I was shocked when I walked in- I have been to house shows, but this was crazy! There were people crowd surfing and climbing across the ceiling while doing so. I heard that it is not usually like this, so I guess I just got lucky! I only got plowed into once and no one was whacked by the monopod, so I call it a successful night.
No zooms as I had the camera up by the ceiling and I was avoiding people flying at me anyway.
Thanks to Lys for asking the crowd to watch out for me, and to the people trying to keep people away from me and the kid there. What a blast.

Dead Dads- Colonial Cafe, Sacramento 11/17/18 Closing Night

Last night was closing night of the cafe colonial, and it was PACKED. I got to the cafe late as usual and had to park way out there as the lot was full. I missed the first song of Dead Dads’ set. The crowd went crazy for them- it was really cool to see. For not really being a band, they were pretty tight. Cory lost his voice earlier in the day, but he sounded normal.
I need to apologize to Jim McLain- I tried to squeeze next to the wall and get out of the way of his camera, but I think I obstructed his angle. Sorry about that. Jim was a warrior this weekend and filmed all of the bands on friday and saturday. That’s something like 25 bands or so!

Anime Aliens- North Pole House, Davis Ca. 11/17/18 Canon HFG40 Rode

I hoped to catch Anime Aliens’ set at NPH, but I only caught the last 3 minutes. I would have been earlier but there was a guy across the street sitting in a chair in front of his house, looking pissed. So I parked WAY down the street on the other side and hiked in.
Also, I lose focus because my camera lens fogged up pretty much immediately. Still awesome. I like how the bass player is playing the dual role of bass/human body shield for the rest of the band.
