I debated posting this one, but there is enough of this show that isn’t shazam’ing to justify posting. Regardless, it is a really cool show that Rick Sylvain put together. This was around the same time that the Rolling Stones played California on their Voodoo Lounge tour, so Rick put together an impressive assortment of Stones covers performed by some well-known and some obscure artists. It’s a fun listen. It was also clearly past Rick’s bedtime- he sounds TIRED. Haha!

Here is the last Willie show for a while- there are many more, but I haven’t pulled anything off of those DATs yet. Thanks to Damon Bramblett for sharing these 25+ years ago! These were recorded by Willie’s soundman, then given to Damon and cloned for me.

Here is a fun one from Craig Babb. I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing his recollection of the show: “This was on my 30th birthday, a legendary show! At a bowling alley in Bellingham. I didn’t get much band footage, but the lineup was Poison 13 reunion, The Makers, Satan’s Pilgrims, Galaxy Trio. An Estrus records showcase, and one of my greatest shows ever!” I think this is only the Galaxy Trio set, it sure looks and sounds like them.

This was a funny one- I went to the venue with Kevin Haynes and tried to get soundboard access. I thought ML was managing the band and would be cool with it (he always was), but we didn’t see him and the venue shut us down before we got started. Haha, oh well. After hearing other board tapes from the Troub and knowing how loud the Poster Children played, the audience tape was probably a better option anyway.

Since I am working on a project for Gilman’s fundraising board for the next couple days, you get BONUS VIDEOS… but nothing new from me.
The first one is from a club I never knew existed- I lived in L.A. at the time. This building is still there and is now Taiko Sushi over on Folsom Blvd, between Hazel and Sunrise.
Another one from Steve Rogers, in a venue that was notoriously unfriendly for video. I only videotaped in there once, and was promptly busted by security in about 5 minutes.

TLDR version: This improves at 10min. Forward to 10min if you are not a hardcore fan. I finally got the studio a little more organized over the holidays- I had DVDs of audio and video that I needed to do, all mixed together. Also mixed into the mess was stuff I had already done. So, now there are spindles for upcoming audio and upcoming video. Feels better to be organized and it makes it really fast and easy to get stuff posted. Anyway, here is another show taped by the MIA Kevin Haynes. He taped a lot of indie stuff in L.A. and was one of my good friends when I lived there. Where the heck is he now…

Filmed by James Johnston. Master VHS transferred to DVD in 2007, and sent to me in 2013.
Patricia Rowland Howard of Vomit Launch and Empty Gate’s mid-90s band, whom really to me sound a bit like 28th Day, Barbara Manning’s old group…before going into full-frenzy guitar freakout mode.
Playing with Glycerin and Snowmen. CF played second.
There are four live videos total of them, of which this is the first chronologically, the first three filmed at Lava Lounge and the last one at Blue Room, from late 1994 to early 1995.
You can see I was in a huge hurry to share these. I haven’t tried to gamma adjust this one, the Lava Lounge room was pretty dark, so for me, it’s more important as a means to preserve the audio, which luckily is clear as a bell, no processing or tinkering has been done at all for either.
Keep in mind this is *all* unreleased material. I do know the guitarist / occasional vocalist is Sean Gowan of The Vertels, but don’t know much else about this project, or who the bassist / drummer were.
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I tried transferring that IGD video last night and ran into issues, so here is one from correspondent “french onion soup and kitty litter”, with another amazing Steve Rogers video. This time, he is filming on stage at a Danzig show. I am shocked that Danzig didn’t come over and say something like “I am gonna pound that camera like a jackhammer”. As always, if anyone has a lead on better audio, I am all up for a synch.
One last thing- the best way to keep up with everything posted is to go to http://www.sacramentomusicarchive.com and sign up for email alerts there. That way you youtube subscribers won’t miss stuff like this!

Here’s the last post from Japanese TV- an hour-long special documenting Shonen Knife’s tour of America in 1994. A lot of it is in Japanese, but there are some cool behind the scenes clips of TV appearances and stuff. Good for people who know Japanese and who like the song Tomatohead, because you’re gonna hear it about 100 times. Saki taped this off of TV and sent me the master.
