Here is a show that I received in a DVD trade years ago. It looks like it is a transfer off the master tape. In fact, hate5six posted another show from the night before from the day before this show.. so maybe this was a fest. I don’t have a filmer name, but the other set was recorded by Jim Keller, so I will assume he shot this one as well. Insane show- crowd goes wild and swarms the stage for sing-alongs
My friend Derek Purtell had asked me to send him some fastbacks shows, and this one was such a good performance that I figured I would post it today. There’s nothing quite as fun to listen to as a fastbacks set when they are “on”. I think they are opening for Pearl Jam here, but I can’t find any info online about the show. They mention being “another Seattle band” at the beginning of the set. Whoever taped this did a really nice job, given the gear. The old analog D3 was the lowest end pro walkman you could get.

Sometimes when a tape is labeled “pre-FM soundboard”, it is just the live performance as it was broadcast, but taped through the system in studio. Not this one. You get to hear all of the chatter between DJ’s and the band, along with only some of the commercials and some silence (which I assume is a spot for local stations to stick a commercial in). A really fun listen if you are a Muffs fan. but, BE PREPARED FOR BIG GAPS OF SILENCE. Another Ebay troll/score btw.

Today’s On This Date in History comes from Festus, Mo’s Bottle Rockets. This is pretty cool- kinda surprising that they played the show since they were on an indie label at the time. The interviewer does a nice job despite not knowing much about the band.

This session took place less than a month before the band broke up. The exact date is unknown, but it was probably sometime around the first week of April.

Here is the last concert on the DAT with firehose’s last show and Luna’s KCRW performance. At this show, Dean gets a bottle thrown at him- you can hear him end the show abruptly, mid-song but they come back and finish the set. Man, Philly is a tough town- they live up to their reputation.

It’s been a little while since I posted a tupelo show, so here is one from that short tour w/Teenage Fanclub in early 1992. Sounds pretty nice, and they close the set with that killer Gang of Four cover “I Found That Essence Rare”.

Here is another Chuck Erb recording that I got way back in 1992, right when I started DAT trading. In fact, I need to check- this may be my first DAT trade. I think this recording sounds better than my GAMH shows that I posted from last week, but I like that 2nd night GAMH set better.

I’m a little late with the post today because this Win 7 dinosaur of a PC was acting up- it acts like it burns a blu ray, but when you check the disc, it’s blank. At least I was able to ID it real-time and after multiple burn tests and reboots, back in biz. It’s Tour Manager Doug Tuesday! Since there is an unbelievable amount of Slayer in his collection, let’s get at least 1 slayer show up per week for the next.. let’s see.. 12 weeks or so. That will land us right around the time that they play Aftershock. This one appears to be uncirculated. When I usually look up a Doug tape, there is some hissy/inferior quality version of it online somewhere. Not this one, and I had never even heard of this club. It seems to be your typical 80s Metal club- everything from Thrash to Hair and all in between. This one cleaned up alright- it was super tinny but EQ did the job this time.
