The Posies- Harlows, Sacramento Ca. 5/22/18 Live 5 Camera Multicam Seattle

The Posies came to Sac last year on their 25th anniversary of “Frosting on the Beater” tour. The show was criminally under attended. There was maybe 50 people in there, it was embarrassing. The show started so early- I got there at 7 and the opener was already playing. I think the Posies went on at 8. GREAT show despite all of that.
Sorry about the less than stellar audio on this one- we were trying to swing an audio matrix and it would not align.
Someone please let Ryan Reliable know this exists, he is a fan but not on the internet.

The Posies- The Octopus Literary Salon, Oakland Ca. 5/29/16 Part 1 Canon HFG30 and Rode Mic

The Posies did this crazy tour where they played TINY venues – capacity 80 or less. They would give you the venue name the day of the show. The Bay Area show was the last show of the tour and it was great- the venue had great sound and the sightlines were not bad for being so packed. I had 4 cameras with me, but only had room to use 1- a monopod on top of the merch table! Recorded with a Canon HFG30 and Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic. Thanks to Ken for permission to film.

The Posies- Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco Ca. 9/19/98 Audio xfer DAT Soundboard Live LAST SHOW

Man, this is totally going to be a tl:dr.
So in 1998, The Posies announced that they were calling it a day. They announced their final show at Bottom of the Hill in SF, which was an odd choice of location since they are known as a Seattle band! B.O.T.H. shows are notoriously late- they usually go until 1:30-2am, which is really tough on out of towners like me (2 hours home).
This show was special- since it was The Posies “last show”, they kept playing and playing… and Ken got naked for one of the encores, and they ended up playing for almost 2 hours. They finally ended at 2:30am or so.
I get out of the venue with some of my friends… and MY CAR IS GONE. I think it has been stolen and start freaking out. One of my friends (Jason Smoliak or Jason Sherrett I think) offered to drive me around to try to find the car. It was on the block over- I was already delirious from lack of sleep!
So I start driving home. I get over the Bay Bridge and 80 is fucking CLOSED. They put me on 580 with no choice. I had no idea how to get home- remember, this was before GPS/Cell Phones were common. So I happen to see a sign for hwy 13 and head that way. At this point it is about 3:30am so I stop and call my wife on the pay phone to let her know I will be super late, and it goes to voicemail. What the hell.
I fight falling asleep at the wheel and finally make it home around 5 or 5:30am. I walk in the door and wife starts screaming “I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!”. Well, pick up the damned phone. I get a whopping 2 or 3 hours sleep before the 3 and 5 year olds beat on my head to wake up.

The Posies- Undated Gefffen Demo xfer from Master promo/archive cassette

I acquired this demo in addition to the 1991 demo that I posted last week. It sounds like it could be rough mixes or album tracks, I can’t tell and I did not have time to compare. Saying sorry to myself was a bonus track for the omnivore reissue, but again there was no time to compare. Hopefully this offers something unique

The Posies- Cattle Club, Sacramento Ca. 4/14/91 xfer from master tape!

I went to over 50 Cattle Club shows, and this one is probably my favorite, if not one of the top 2 or 3 (Yo La Tengo/Barbara Manning 1992 and Buffalo Tom/Sebadoh/Pavement being the others). Dear 23 had just come out and I had it for about a month and was a big fan already. I had no idea what to expect live, but I thought that it would be jangly and low key. It was probably the loudest show I ever saw at Cattle. When I was taping, I could not hear any vocals, but luckily the mic picked them up. You get TWO big star covers- Feel and I am the Cosmos, years before Auer and Stringfellow would join big star. Holy shit. IT took days for my hearing to recover.

Posies- Cattle Club, Sacramento Ca. 4/14/91 LIVE ENHANCED Xfer from 8mm master

Wow. Now that I am getting used to using these new enhancement tools, these videos are coming out really nice. Here is the posies from Cattle. I bumped up the contrast and de-snowed the picture with neat. It looks much clearer than before.

The Posies- DGC Demo 1991 xfer from Master tape from label Auer Stringfellow Seattle

I picked this demo up recently and it blew me away- so much, that I thought I would listen to it and post right away. I think some of these tracks may have been scattered across the Omnivore reissues and the long out of print box set.. but I don’t think all of them have been released.
Some of my favorite Posies songs are on here- Farewell Typewriter & This One’s Taken (which they did when I saw them at Cattle Club in 1991). This appears to be from more than one session, recorded after Dear 23 and before Frosting. Coool.
