Gimme An F- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 1/25/20 Multicam Live with Matrix Audio Kevin Seconds

Today’s post is a good one- here is Gimme an F’s debut show at Cafe Colonial! Actually, it might have been their only show before the pandemic hit. It never ceases to amaze me that Kevin can write an entire new set of songs for a new project. It seems like he does it about once a year- last year was Unsteady Heights, and now Gimme an F.

Field Day- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 1/25/20 Multicamera Live video with Matrix Audio Dag Nasty

So many thanks are in order for this one. Thanks to Doug & the band for allowing me to video. Thanks to Sean Hills for bringing the band to town. Thanks to “Anonymous” for taping from the audience and doing the matrix/compression work. Thanks to Agelos(Tromster) for the edit… and finally thanks to the band again for doing some final touch-ups to the audio. Thanks everyone.
Also, my apologies to anyone who was there and had to endure my delirious over-caffeinated ramblings after being up for 36hrs due to a business trip.

Gimme an F- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 1/25/20 4k Live UHD Kevin Seconds

Warning- the first 4 minutes of this video is “not as good” audio. This DSLR does not allow for most adjustments while it is operating, and I happened to plug my mic into the jack after I turned the camera on… I fix it about 45 minutes in and it sounds a lot better.
It’s Kevin Seconds’ new band, accompanied with the rhythm section of Your Friends! It just amazes me that Kevin can continue to write so many songs. This entire set is newly written songs, just for this band. There’s even a hardcore one for the 7 seconds fans.

The Knockoffs- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca. 1/25/20 Lumix GH5S 4K UHD Live Punk w/Rode Audio

I was so happy to see that The Knockoffs, one of my all time favorite Sacramento bands, were added to the Field Day show. They played a short(for them) 30 minute set packed with all of their hits. I sang myself hoarse between this set and Field Day.

Bastards of Young- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 1/25/20 4K UHD Live Lumix GH5S w/Rode Mic

Man, I had so much fun last night. Thanks to Sean for bringing Field Day to town and for creating the best 4 band bill that I can remember.
I need to do some work on Kevin Seconds’ and Jordan Wolfe’s new band who opened the show, so I will post that set later.
Next on the bill were Bastards of Young. They delivered a killer set, as usual, and I think they might have picked up some new fans. I know my friend “Anonymous” was rocking along during their set.

TSOL- Observatory, Santa Ana Ca. 1/4/20 4k UHD Live Video 40 Year Anniversary Set Rare Songs t.s.o.l

After a lot of back and forth (trying to get permission to video TSOL, then buying a nirvana reunion ticket and seeing that camera rules changed, then cancelling Nirvana and going to TSOL anyway), I made a last minute decision to see TSOL.. and boy am I glad I did. What a set!
When I saw that they were doing a 40th anniversary set with “old songs never played before”, I was hoping that they would play something off of my favorite album “Beneath the Shadows”. I about lost it when they opened with Soft Focus. It was obvious that the band enjoyed playing these songs as well.
If this tour is coming to your town, you must go.

The Dickies- Observatory, Santa Ana Ca. 1/4/20 4K UHD Master Video Punk Greg Hetson Circle Jerks

While on vacation with the family in L.A. last week, I was lucky enough to make it over to the Observatory and catch the 2 bands that I really wanted to see- TSOL (40th anniversary show) and The Dickies.
I have been going to see the Dickies since 1988. In fact, they were on of the first bands I ever filmed in May of 88. This show was the best I have ever seen them, hands down. Great set and great performance.
They announced that their LAST album is coming out soon… does this mean that they are going to stop/retire? Man, that would be a bummer.. but if they keep sounding like this, it will be good to go out on top.
Features an appearance by Greg Hetson on guitar on 1 song, and in the backstage audience behind Stan.
