Joy Ryder and Avis Davis- Max’s Kansas City New York City late 1970s f/Umatic tape Davis/Ryder band

Let’s keep the wayback machine going this weekend. This is a tape that I got off Ebay a couple years ago and now that the good umatic machine is fixed, it was finally time to digitize. I would assume that it is a master since there were pretty much no Umatic traders. In fact, I have never seen a umatic dubbed tape. This one has some smearing and some shadows, which could mean that it is a copy but I just think that was 1970s tech back then. Where else are you going to find this anyway?

Davis/Ryder was an early punk band who put out a 7″ on Monongo records in 1979 and the “B” side- Nasty Secretary- was their most popular song. Both Joy and Avis have passed away.

Pretty cool time capsule.

Ozzie- Soviet Shoes Video 1979

So an offhand comment of me saying that Draw Pinky confused me(I since bought “Wee” and loved it) turned into a great email exchange with Bill Fuller from the band. He pointed me at this awesome video by Sacramento band Ozzie in 1979. Thanks Bill!

PS: You should get “The Parabolic Rock” by Ozzie if s-s records if you don’t have it already.
