Econochrist- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 5/14/93 xfer from master soundboard cassette

I was caught unprepared to post today- this weekend was very busy and work continues to be chaotic. So, let’s dip into the awesome archive of older Gilman soundboard tapes, courtesy of Radley Hirsch. There is some more KILLER Tour Manager Doug stuff coming this week! It will be the Ultimate Revenge of uncirculated audio posts (hint hint).
This one sounds great- this is Radley’s raw mix. I love this flyer I found online- complete with an apparent setlist on the back.
Oh, and one last thing- I am growing tired of facebook’s algorithm burying posts with shared links so I am starting something new today- each post will be a photo only, with the link to the sacmusicarchive website in comments. Let’s see if more people can see that. I post every day, believe it or not.

Econochrist & Born Against- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 2/19/93 xfer from master soundboard cassette tape

I had planned on posting a melvins show today, but I couldn’t figure out my own damned tape. I’ll post it soon- it’s pretty cool.
Here is another Radley Gilman show. This one also confused me- the file was supposed to be Born Against and Econochrist.. but the other file sounded like album tracks. Maybe the Born Against is just THAT good- who knows… or maybe that was really album tracks and this is both bands. I had no time to sort it out. Sorry.

Update: Thanks to youtube commenter Troy Malish, Born Against starts at the 31:58 mark of this post. I wonder what the heck that other stuff on Radley’s CD was.

Econochrist- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 9/6/92 xfer f/master soundboard cassette

It’s Radley Hirsch’s turn for an audio post today, and it is another really nice quality Econochrist board tape. I am working through Radley’s shows from A-Z and I still have a few Econochrist shows to check to see if they are online yet. So what I am saying is you might be getting an endless stream of Econochrist over the next couple months.

Thanks Radley.

Econochrist- McGregor’s, Elmhurst Il. 8/9/92 xfer from 1st gen VHS tape Live East Bay Punk

Here’s the next one in the series of VHS tapes that I digitized for Corbett and Dan, for the East Bay Punk doc. Here is Econochrist from McGregor’s. I was able to enhance this and remove the grain without making it look like you are in a dream, which is rare for a copied VHS tape. As with all of the McGregor’s shows, I hope to re-digitize them and see if I can use the canopus box to bring that exposure down a bit.

Another nice board tape from Radley’s collection. I am just working through the folder of discs that he let me rip, from A-Z. We finished Cap Punishment, on to Econochrist.
This is another nice mix. I can’t recall if I did anything to this one. I don’t think so. Just a raw mix.

Econochrist- Hand Gallery, Portland, Or 11/30/91 xfer f/1st gen VHS tape Punk Very Small Records

Today’s On This Date in History comes from Jason Ross’ collection. It was labeled as “Portland 11/30/91” and looked like it took place in a DIY space. I figured I didn’t have a remote chance of finding out the venue, but a newspapers dot com search came up with the listing. Kudos to the Oregonian- they were the paper that ALWAYS had the inside info on my former tech employer before it was made public too. Haha.

The reason that you are seeing so many Jason Ross videos for the OTD project is because I received his collection early on, and took every master and 1st gen tape that I could find and digitized it. I honestly do not recall doing this many of his tapes- always a nice surprise to come across stuff like this.

UPDATE- master was located and it’s slightly better quality, so I am pointing you there

Econochrist- 924 Gilman, Berkeley, Ca 5/25/91 xfer from master VHS tape Enhanced East Bay Punk

Before I get to today’s video post, can anyone explain why the Slambodians video I posted last Friday has 6,400 views? It seems that the ol’ YT algorithm loved it and sent it to the world. Odd. The other Slambodians video only has 70 after a month. I wish I could figure out what makes THAT happen…

Anyway, here is one from Rodney Parker’s collection of master VHS tapes. I bumped up the lighting on this one as the left side of the stage was super dark, while not over exposing Ben center stage. Looks pretty decent.

Econochrist- Phoenix Theater, Petaluma Ca 1/25/91 xfer from master VHS tape Enhanced East Bay Punk

Another Wednesday, another rare as hell Arica Pelino video. This one is an apparent uncirculated Econochrist video from that same show as Lung Butter. Same with a lot of Arica’s video, this one sounds ok- not distorted. Nice closeups. Thanks Arica!

Econochrist- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 4/28/90 xfer f/master soundboard tape East Bay Punk

It has been a wild past 24 hours. First, I mowed the lawn for like 4 hours yesterday. It was an endless exhausting nightmare- not a fan of yardwork. Because of that, I had to scramble to get to the Blood for Blood show at Cornerstone on time as it was an early start. I get permission from the band to video and start prepping my cameras for the show… and my phone is gone. I used it to show my ticket at the door so it has to be there.. then I remember that someone bumped into me as I was prepping AND I kept the phone sticking out of my back pocket.. d’oh!

So, long story short, if you have my cell number and typically text me, I am without a phone for a few days. Please message me on fb or email. What an ordeal. Oh, and no Blood for Blood video. I had to hurry home and do all of the fun financial lockdown steps.

This one is from Radley Hirsch’s collection. I am going from A-Z in his folder and discovered even more Econochrist shows in a folder nested incorrectly. 2 more Econochrist shows to go after this.

This is from that Neurosis show that you see on the calendar. That Neurosis set sounded so good that they released a song from it as a 7″ back in 1990. This one sounds great as well.
