This is from Guerin Myall’s collection. It looks like Guerin was hanging out with Biohazard when MTV came over to do a segment on the band. It starts with some PSA’s and then the practice starts at about 7:00, then an interview. Fun behind the scenes view.

A little over 2 years ago, I posted a Whitesnake show at Arco Arena that was on one of Todd Nakamine’s tapes. It was done by a community cable show called CC Rock. As part of digitizing every minute of every tape in Todd’s collection, I discovered that there was more on the tape! The CC Rock guys added about 15 minutes of a segment they did with Dream Theater! Cool. It’s another multicam deal, but audience audio this time. Plus an interview with vocalist James Labrie! What a find. Thanks Todd.

Oh no. R.I.P. Dolly. What a terrible shock. I can’t add much to the well-done tributes from everyone else, but her humanitarian projects were great. Some people hoard wealth, others use it to send books to children and fund research for the covid vaccine. What an amazing woman.
So let’s not post Biohazard today, that can wait until tomorrow. I don’t know where I got this one, but it is nice quality. It’s the entire thing, commercials and all. Dolly comes on at 13:30.
And… is that Asian Man Records’ MIKE PARK in the thumbnail?? Ah, that’s where I got it. Mike sent this over to be digitized.

More semi-unknown stuff from Arica Pelino’s collection, via Robert Eggplant. This tape is labeled Time Capsule and it has some commonalities with the Discogs release with the same title and artwork(Naked Aggression is on both, for example) but this one clearly has a different tracklist than the original documented version. I’ll ask Robert if he created multiple Time Capsules- it sure seems like he did.

It’s early but not too early for today’s audio post. I digitized some of KALX’ reels a few months back and most of them sounded terrible- the tapes probably need to be baked. This is one of the only ones that transferred well. Good X interview with a DJ named Xandy.

It’s another late one, and an audio one at that. I will probably take another shot at transferring this one as it doesn’t sound very good. I even EQ’d it twice to get some of that ugly midrange out of there and I tried to bring up the high end.

Most of the KALX reels that I tried did not sound too great when I attempted transfer- I think I might need to bake them. This one was pretty good. It starts with Rick doing 3 KALX ID’s and then the DJ’s go into the crowd to capture about 30 minutes of the set. The quality deteriorates as it goes on. It’s only about 35 minutes long, I forgot to trim the end.

It’s a double Tony Philputt day! Again by pure coincedence. Finding unique things to post from Tony’s collection can be a challenge. Since his collection has been unpacked and is in the new archive building, I grabbed 3 or 4 tapes that looked like they could have something interesting, and I got lucky on the first tape!
There is a Billy Bragg performance from the Reel George show online, but it is a different performance from 1986. I almost skipped this one until I looked closely at the dates.
Quality is not awful, but not perfect. Probably a few copies off the master. A few songs with a 2-camera setup and a short int.

This is the last of the lo-fi interviews from Chris Eng’s collection. It has been kinda fun trying to sleuth these things out. The funny thing was that these interviews were each done at a separate venue, but all in July 1987. I figured this one out because of the focus on Arizona.. and I remembered that there was an “Arizona invades gilman” show in July of 1987. How did I remember this? It was my first-ever show at Gilman! Also, they mention going to the show at The Farm the day before, which was that Day at the Farm that the Twisted interview came from, on July 11.
This one is hard to listen to- tons of background noise. At least it is only 5 minutes worth. More music from Chris’ collection next time.
