Grand Champeen- Thee Parkside, San Francisco, CA 1/25/04 xfer from DV master enhanced Schoeps Audio

Here is one that I have been trying to improve for a long time. It used to be super dark- to the point that you could only see Michael Crow and none of the other band members. I was able to brighten and adjust contrast, then denoise. (ignore the thumbnail, it looks better on the video). We then took KN’s schoeps audio and synched it up with the enhanced video. There are not many complete GC sets from this early- this is a tour opening for Richmond Fontaine for “The One That Brought You” release. Sounds great.

Grand Champeen- Thee Parkside, San Francisco Ca. 1/25/04 transfer from DV Master!

This is the last time I saw Champeen. I was in China when they came back around in 2007. Man, I miss this band. This video was done on my old JVC DV camcorder and it is very dark. If these guys are playing close to you, you need to check them out. I tried to get them to play my sabbatical party, but it just did not work out.

Exhale- Sacramento Slump official out of print CD 2004 Wet the Rope Death Valley High Emo Punk

Collections post, and time for the Locals Only segment! We do this about once a month- we share long out of print CD’s from the Sacramento region’s rich music scene.

We have been doing a lot of mellower stuff with these lately, so let’s do one from the punk/hardcore/emo side of things. Exhale was Dan Hernandez on Bass, Victor Onstine on Drums, Cheyenne Love on Guitar, and Chris Sanders on Guitar, Keyboard, Vocals. Our old friend Laurence Herrmann was the engineer/producer and did some backing vocals and stuff. Chris went on to play in Death Valley High and the awesome Wet the Rope.

I found this CD at Deseret Industries of all places. It was like 500 mormon CD’s and this. I had to double take and check my eyes to make sure I was seeing it correctly.

Track list:
1 Drop Dead
2 Embiggens
3 Perfectly Cromulent
4 Mess You Made
5 Cue Oh
6 Fault Line Heroics
7 New Dad
8 Dead Fish
9 Not Quite Hated
10 Nick

Elsah- Dave’s 1st Gig, House Show 2004? xfer from Hi8 Master Enhanced alternative country Americana

Here’s a late post for a Sunday- another one from Neil Werries’ collection. Here is his band playing what appears to be a house show. This one was super grainy and the neat video degrain did a killer job – removed the noise while keeping the detail. The audio is a bit distorted- they must have been pretty loud for a house show.
