Mean Jeans- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 12/3/22 4K UHD Multicam with soundboard audio

This last 24 hours has been the busiest I have been in months. 4 kids sports games and an arcade game pickup in Walnut Grove.. and now to Oakland to see SATAN. It feels a lot like the night I filmed this Mean Jeans show.
I can’t remember why (probably kids sports again), but I could not get out of sac until late and I sped all the way there. I find a spot right up front and walk in to see the Mean Jeans (headliner) setting up. I set up, filmed, broke down and headed home in about 90 minutes. That’s efficient taping!
This was the first time the bad had played at Gilman and they were pretty stoked about it. Their set was longer than usuak and they took some “deep cut” requests from the audience. Super fun (and hilarious) set from the guys.

Equipment used: Canon HFG60, Canon HFG50, 2x Gopro Hero 7 black. The one on Billy Jeans(bass) froze up. Gah!
Audio was a USB through the soundboard, rebalanced in Izotope Rx8

Mean Jeans- Goldfield Trading Post, Roseville Ca 4/17/22 4K UHD Lumix GH5S and DPA 4061 Mics Punk

This is the reason why I headed to Goldfield on Easter- to see one of my favorite bands. It was so nice to see them play for a (relatively) big audience who appreciated their music. This is the best reaction I have seen to an opening band in years. Hard to tell if most of the crowd knew the band, or were just reacting to the greatness as they heard it for the first time.
This is just one angle of 4- we still need to get this one enhanced and edited together- consider this raw footage. As usual, a couple of things went wrong. First of all, I forgot 1 tiny adapter that would allow me to plug into the mixing board. I brought 50 other tiny things to make everything work, but that one thing… nope. Also, the rowdy crowd grabbed my gopro that I had focused on Jeans Wilder(drummer) and ended up setting it on stage, turned the wrong way. So much for the drum cam.
Still a great show. Best I have ever seen them. Glad they are finally getting the props they deserve here in sac.

Mean Jeans- Goldfield Trading Post, Roseville Ca. 4/17/22 4K UHD Multicam

I posted the main angle of this one right after the show, but here is the full 4 camera edit. The funny thing was that I thought that the drum camera angle would be ruined after some over enthusiastic fans picked it up and placed it on stage, but it still worked pretty well! But seriously, please don’t touch the cameras. Thanks to the security guy for putting it back even better than before.

Mean Jeans- Blue Lamp, Sacramento Ca. 8/28/19 Multicamera with Soundboard Audio Punk 5 Cam

It was nice to see the Mean Jeans in a bigger room. They have only played smaller places in Sac before. I thought that I pushed the soundboard remix a little too hard and caused some distortion, but this sounds pretty clean.

Mean Jeans- Press Club, Sacramento Ca. 1/17/18 Multicam w/Rode VPS Audio

Since seeing the Mean Jeans last time (at Cafe Colonial) in 2013, they have become one of my favorite bands. They have not played Sacramento since they released “Tight New Dimension” their kickass release for Fat Wreck Chords. Here they are in all of their chaotic, lo fi glory. I love how the gopro moves with the stage at Press, and it is perfect to see Jeans Wilder sing his parts.
I usually hate everything I film because I know what I am going to do next. but this is awesome.

Mean Jeans- Colonial Cafe, Sacramento 10/13/14 3 camera Multicam w/Schoeps Audio! Part 1

I was really excited to see the Mean Jeans and they did not disappoint. They were incredibly gracious- they were so happy to get the 3 camera Kepi Ghoulie DVD that they appeared on last year. This show was excellent- the audio quality is a bit lacking, but that is not due to recording equipment- Jason has Schoeps MKIV’s that we mixed into this. Even with the club sound being less than stellar, it was a lot of fun. Thanks to Agelos and Bong for mixing the cameras!!

This is part 1 only- you can find the rest of the show on Youtube
