The Demonics- KALX Live in Studio, Berkeley Ca 2/27/99 xfer f/radio station archive cassette SF Punk

It’s time for something from KALX’ archives and this is definitely a lively performance. I think this is the one (I digitized a bunch of them) that the band is dropping a ton of F bombs in a song toward the end of the set. I hope Rick didn’t get busted for those shenanigans!

The band was pretty active. Formed in 1989, they released a ton of records from 1996-2003 along with a comp in 2007. The band includes members of the Hellbillys and – get this- guitarist/vocalist Russ Wright was in The Faction in the early days. He has a co-writing credit on Running Amok and a couple others and then came back to play guitar with the band in 2003. I never knew that…

The Wunder Years- KALX Live in Studio, Berkeley Ca 2/13/99 xfer from Pre-FM Master cassette Pop Punk

Here’s the last KALX tape for a bit- time to move over and digitize more of Wayne’s stuff. I really enjoy these KALX sessions- it exposes me to a bunch of regional bands I had no idea existed.. and a lot of them are really good. The band consisted of Brian Moss, Caitlin Love, Josh Staples, and Shane Stevens. Looks like they put out a couple of albums (on CD) and a 7″.

Wilco- GLR Interview and Live in Studio w/Jeff and Jay, London England 2/8/99 xfer from DAT Clone FM

For today’s On This Day in History, I have a short radio session from Wilco. Well actually, it is Jeff Tweedy and Jay Bennett from Wilco doing a couple songs in studio. This is great timing, as the Postcard From Hell group was just discussing favorite Wilco albums, and I would have to say this one- Summerteeth- is mine. I can’t stand to listen to anything after this one.
