XMPT- Roseville Community Cable 8, August 2000 xfer f/Master or low gen VHS tape

Another late collections post- sorry about that. I am stretched pretty thin over the holidays, and especially when kids are out of school.

I found this one while I was looking through Dennis Newhall’s audio CD’s. There was a DVD in there of a local band on Roseville community cable. This is almost a full hour performance, which was rare at the time.

There was no info at all about this band online. Thanks to the internet archive’s wayback machine, I was able to find an awesome early 2000’s webpage that looks the part. Not only that, I was able to access the band member names. Awesome!

Margie Ramirez Walker – Vocals & Percussion

Greg O’Campo – Bass & Vocals

John F. King II – Drums, Percussion, & Vocals

Bucky Gunther – Saxophone & Vocals

Ben Lev – Guitar, Vocals & Audio Engineering

Lenny “Flash” La Rue – Keyboards & Keyboards

dRAW PiNKY- Sacto Active Rock, Sacramento Community Cable 3/17/93 xfer f/Umatic Master Ozzie

Another awesome video from Lizz Fisher’s Sacto Active Rock Umatic master collection. dRAW PiNKY is from Sacramento, California. Several members were in local legends, Ozzie.
The band came back from a long period of dormancy to release an EP in mid-2024 and a couple of christmas singles- 1 each at the end of 2024 and 2025. I enjoyed the Krampus cover on the ’24 ep.
Anyway, here they are in better quality than previously posted. The high end has slight distortion, which is present on the source tape.

Far- Sacto Active Rock, Sacramento Community Cable 9/9/92 xfer f/Umatic Master Tape Jonah Matranga

Another late one for you today, and we still have an audio post coming!
I had intended to post this one about a week ago and realized that I prepped it at a super low resolution. This was one of the first things I did after walking in the door from Las Vegas yesterday. Man, these umatic transfers look so nice and there are a lot more to go.

Luna and Babes in Toyland- San Antonio Community Cable 1992 xfer f/master VHS tape Interview & Live

My video transfer setup is still giving me trouble, so let’s pull this one out for today. You should get a Chris Eng video tomorrow- and it is a rare one! I hope I can keep up with this “collections video every day” thing. Lossless capture has been finicky and it is time consuming when it goes well… I think it is time to stand up a 2nd lossless capture setup.

Craig Hilmer taped this off TV when he lived in San Antonio and mailed it to me back in 1992. Really neat interview and live footage. Are there any other video interviews of Luna from this time frame? I don’t recall seeing one.

Ian Faith- Sacto Active Rock, Sacramento Community Cable 7/13/91 xfer f/Umatic Master Tape

Late start today. Here is one from Lizz Fisher’s Umatic Master tapes of her Sacto Active Rock show. This had to be one of the first ones she did. Ian Faith was constantly playing Sac in the late 80s and early 90s. They even might have been on the bill for the first Cattle Club show ever. Here is an upgraded version of the VHS one I posted a few years back. This one looks great and sounds even better. Glad I got to see the band back in 2019 at the Cattle Club 30th reunion show.

Identity Crysis- Community Cable Live in Studio 1988 xfer f/1st gen VHS off band archive tape Banger

Collections time, and another one from Ken Doose’s box of videos. He got this VHS tape from the band, so it is most likely 1st or 2nd gen.

This one made me chuckle because there is almost no guitar in the studio mix. Even when playing for TV, Bill has his amp cranked to 11 (louder stage volume=lower board levels for the uninitiated). LOL, just kidding Bill. You owe me a text btw.

I don’t know which community cable this was filmed with- probably Roseville or Sacramento. Lighting was so dim that I had to bump up the brightness and exposure before denoising.
