OK, buckle up, this is going to be long story.. but up front, the audio is NOT GOOD on this for the first 5min- it is Gopro Audio from the stage. Please forward past 5min if you can’t take it.
I coach my daughter’s soccer team and I didn’t think I was going to be able to make this show- the show started at 3pm- but I bolted out of there right when the game ended and made it to the Ivy right when Boneless Ones were setting up. I get permission to video them and I reach into my camera bag for my memory card wallet… and it isn’t there. I mistook my audio recorder case for the wallet. I am screwed- I am 2 hours from home and I don’t have a memory card for my main 4k camera.
I run back out to my car and begin a slapstick series of phone calls to local camera shops ($300 memory card- no thanks) thrashing through city streets to the Best Buy in Emeryville (20min each way) to beg employees to UNLOCK the memory card case NOW. I fly back to the Ivy, lose my parking spot and park blocks away, run into the club to see the Dickies setting up. Can’t believe I made it back in time. I was able to get 2 of my 3 Gopros set up and was able to pull it off.
Since my nerves were still on edge, I accidentally hit my start button twice on my main camera which started then stopped it, so I ended up not filming the first 5 minutes of the set with the main camera. That’s why the audio is bad.
Let’s not do that again.
