Here is a quick one for today’s On This Date in History. What a day. I will probably make a tab on the ol’ website to poke fun at these last 24 hours sometime soon.
But enough vagueposting. I got this one from my old friend Saki Honma- I met her at Uncle Tupelo’s last show at Mississippi Night, and then we traded DATs for a few years until we lost touch. She got this from the taper as a DAT clone, then cloned it for me.
The recording is clear but thin. It lacked bass so I used Izotope Rx8 to bring the bass up A LOT. The odd thing is that the bass is in the mix (and a little too loud) during the first song, then drops out. I wonder if the bass player was having an issue.
Anyway, a nice EARLY recording on the eve of what I think was their first US tour. They played CBGB in 1990, but I don’t think that one was a full blown tour.
